I am going to try next with a 5 star team, perhaps Spurs, to see if my experience is any different.

I don't know if this warrants its own thread here or in the gaming forum, but the new FIFA Street game comes out March 13th. I loved the old NBA/NFL street games, but never played the FIFA ones. Looks like a mildly fun arcade game but seeing as they used the same engine as the regular FIFA games I can't help but feel like it should just be an extra game mode or a DLC type thing.

After a couple weeks I'm up to D6, and playing so much I'm dreaming about the game (hmm, Anzhi vs Dortmund on a field shaped like Russia).
I should say I played a lot of career mode before sacking it up for Head-to-Head
Do people normally just play with one team, or do you guys bounce around? I've probably tried about 12 teams, 6 or 7 teams that I like. Denmark, Turkey, Anzhi, Cameroon and Sounders mostly. Uruguay, Lyon or Arsenal when I feel like playing with a really good team

One fact is when you play. When I'm normally online, there are only like 30,000 people on. I tool around with 3 star teams Molde and Seattle, which means I can't play anyone over 4 stars. I like playing with Sounders, but I can never get a match with Sounders against another 3 star team (Sometimes I luck out and some idiot in Australia is playing with the Brisbane Roar.)
Normally if I pick a 4 star team it's 50-50 I get a 5 star opponent. To avoid this I either a) pick a 4.5 star team like Uruguay to even things a bit, or b) pick a really good 3.5 like Anderlecht, FC Twente or Anzhi, which means you can't play anyone over 4.5 stars.
(I kind of set a personal goal of winning a match with a team from each country)
I'd like to see them stretch out the ratings, especially at the top. What they should do is go to 6 stars for teams like Spain/FCB/Real, so that you only play them if you are a five star team (I have beaten Barca with 4-star Cameroon, but usually they just wear me down). Then a one star different wouldn't be so vast. They'll never do it though

Now what I wish they'd do is let you save a set of strategies/lineup/bench/kick-takers for a certain number of clubs. That would save tons of time.

For South Africa, there was a lottery that you entered...but they overestimated the demand and I'm pretty sure you could have gotten them the day of the game.

Also, it's MADDENING when the goalie stops it/gives up a nice rebound, and instead of pouncing on it the other forwards stand around and watch as the defenders clear it.

Any tips for converting one-on-ones? I just played a game in which i had no less than 5 or 6 chances where it was just my striker and the goalie, and he saved them all. My usual strategy is to slow up a bit (if possible), pick a side and use the control shot thing (whichever is RB + shoot) but I feel like it only has about a 25% success rate.
A curled shot (rb+shoot) will work, as will double tapping shoot to keep it low. One thing you can also do, depending on how you are when you are one on one with the keeper, is dribble around the keeper for an open net. You have to knock the ball forward with the right joystick and go around the keeper, though.

Or if a teammate is nearby, you can cross it over the GK to the teammate.
Also the fake shot (shot button then pass button before he kicks it*) then knock ahead works occasionally. * to do this I keep my thumb over both buttons then slide my thumb from one to the other

The double tap and aiming for the short side (post you're closest to) is the #1 way to score on one on ones, especially it your opponent doesn't bring the keeper out. You'll covert at least half of 'em. Right bumper + shot is the next level of this, but the double tap is consistent.
I have no idea how to get the automatons to just nudge the rebound in so I share your frustration.
Pretty clever that they bump up the requirements for Division 3. I just barely hung on during my last season.

Man, I was wrong to assume that the Euro 12' add-on was free. Nope. Fucking EA.
Edit: Anyone on here have it and is it worth the purchase?
Very glitchy so far - have been totally unable to use "Continue" to load the last played tournament without freezing, among other freezes. Also, and have only noticed this in Co-Op, but the camera is different and seems to be lower, but I don't think it's intentional - if you go into Settings, the camera is set to Tele Broadcast and is back to normal once you go back out without making any changes.
Otherwise, it's pretty fun, if only for online tournaments (which I haven't tried) and the Expedition mode, which is weird but fun. You pick any one player from the Euro teams and are then given scrubs to fill out the rest of the roster. You create a name, crest, and kits, and start playing countries. When you beat them the first time, you get to take a Reserve player off their team, then a Sub with another win, then a Starter. So you basically try to build a superteam and beat everyone as much as possible, going from group to group. The gameplay and graphics are very similar to FIFA 12 - don't think either has changed much at all to speak of. I personally am having fun just cause I play a lot of co-op with my friend and playing our Man City team on FIFA 12 got old, and trying to make runs through the tournament is a refreshing changeup.

I also never really change the team tactics. Does any of pressure, counter attack, etc, seem to work better in the game than default?

What gave me some pause is that we`re at the middle life of this version, but since the next one won't be out until september or october there may be enough time to enjoy this one before the next comes.

I play FIFA 11 online occasionally. I'm rather terrible. As a beginning soccer watcher/game player, I struggle with picking appropriate formations. I know which are generally offensive and which are generally defensive. However, it seems like I have much more success when my formation matches up well against an opponent. So once I figure out what my opponent is playing, is there a simple way to figure out which formation I should be in?
I also never really change the team tactics. Does any of pressure, counter attack, etc, seem to work better in the game than default?
I know little about soccer in general so I've stuck with one team (Ajax) for online play. Sticking with the same team has helped me play to their strengths--down the wings and crosses to De Jong for headers. Every team has a strength but it usually takes some time to get used to it. I also always use their default formation and rarely make substitutions. I tried switching to high pressure and counter a couple of times but wound up giving up a bunch of goals.
The single biggest piece of advice I can give is this: avoid controlling your fullbacks as much as possible. Let the CPU play D for you and most of the time they'll get the ball back for you and block shots.
I just hit D1, although I'm 2-2 and need 16 points to stay up....

Speaking of tactics, I've been thinking of getting Football Manager 2012 for my computer. Anyone on here have this and do you enjoy it?
There's a reason this is the number 1 game year after year in the UK. It's fucking awesome. I've had the past 3 versions of the game, and will get FM 13 the day it comes out. You best really be in to micromanaging every single aspect of a football club. If you want your reserve left back to work on his off foot on non consecutive Tuesdays, you can do that.
It's a massive time sink though- you'll suddenly look up from the game and 8 hours has passed. I love roster construction and management of any kind, so FM is right up my alley. My favorite videogame by far. I know steam has a free demo version where you can play just 1 season- I'd suggest putting a few hours in to that to see if it's the kind of game you would enjoy before paying for it. It's not for everyone- I know Zomp isn't in to that kind of thing and loves FIFA, whereas I'm the complete opposite.

This game makes me contemplate existentialism on a Huis Clos level. Like, i'm watching myself play this game and going bonkers and I'm like what the fuck. I haven't lost it that bad in a long time. I hope the neighbors aren't home. I'm going to drink a beer and think about world peace.

Also, what is with people who leave their mics plugged in when it's obvious that I'm not using one? I had to listen to one guy's baby cry for an entire match because he decided to leave it on. It's perplexing.
