Well,... prior to their hottest streak this year, thay hadn't played that well before, either, and yet they did.
I'm not saying it's impossible, just unlikely. Or do you think they're significantly worse than their record says they are?

It's not inconceivable, but I think the team losing that many games is certainly unlikely. The offense can win more than 6 games on their own.

What they haven't done, however, is play that poorly for that long at any point in the season... which was my point. You don't simply lop off the previous 11 games as if they didn't happen when talking about the likelihood of them continuing to play this poorly. Previous play counts and has to be taken into account when predicting future performance. And I just can't see them extending this poor run that long. It would be the worst run of the season, by far.

I suppose you can look at it that way, but i'd probably argue that the quality of recent play is more indicative when predicting performance than an expected win loss record over a given stretch, much of which has already passed. Either way, it sucks. They need to just fucking win.

Good call. And now to bask in warm feelings about Scutaro for few minutes before he weakly grounds out to remind us all that he is, in fact, Marco Scutaro.

I'd say the season record is more predictive than the last 11 games, but maybe that's just me.

Three outs to get two runs.
Edit: looking forward to the offense winning this game on their own....

I'd say that the team, as currently constituted, is not the team that accumulated that record.I'm not saying it's impossible, just unlikely. Or do you think they're significantly worse than their record says they are?

Neither outcome is in any way inconceivable. With the starting pitching available in the next couble of weeks something has to change, or they will make it uncomfortably close. The offense is going to have to come alive to win close to half those games. It's not inconceivable, but I think the team losing that many games is certainly unlikely. The offense can win more than 6 games on their own.
