It is time to start wining again.

Well, I spelled it correctly in the thread title...

Hellickson in his last four starts: 1.50 ERA, .202 BAA, 0.93 WHIP. Up against Weiland.

Not a chance, right? Too lopsided even for a kcoL? I hope not. Please make Hellickson work. Last game, Davis had a number of easy innings.

kcoL, don't know if I've seen that one in these annals. Clever.

Hellickson vs. Weiland, I guess if I was a betting Rays fan, I'd mortgage the trailer, the 1990 Ranchero and the pet alligator and put it all on the Rays on this one. Fuckit, time we won one of these though.

12:50 am. The Yanks lose, too.... which also means the Angels gain on us in the Wild Card. We can't win lately.
I mean that literally: "We can't win lately."
I am ready for that to change.
Win the next 2 and put the Rays out of the picture.
I want our WC lead to be larger than Lackey's ERA.

It's time to start whining again.
But before we do, we ought to remember that there are those who care even more than we do. I didn't watch much of last night's game, but I happened to tune in to see the Rays congratulating themselves. Then one of the cameramen focused on Pedroia's face. As his teammates left the dugout, he just sat there miserable and in shock. He has been so bad lately and must feel helpless about it. You want to whisper in his ear something obvious like, "Stop taking pitches right down the middle and stop swinging at pitches way out of the zone," but he knows that and somehow can't help himself.
Good luck Pedroia, and I don't mean "Break a Leg." Good luck to the Boston Red Sox.

I'd be happy with a few runs early and not falling behind by 3 in the first or second inning. To me, those would be moral victories.

That's why I wonder if the Sox are just frustrated and are letting it get to them. No matter how they perform offensively at any given time it is not like them to not work counts/force the pen to come into the game. Last night was a strange night to say the least. I would be more concerned if they do not go back to their original game plan more so than how many runs they score today. Here's to hoping they remember who they are and don't give away another game.

10 years ago tonight, the Sox and I were at The Toilet. Clemens was 19-1 for the MFY and scheduled to go for his 20th against Casey Fossum. As many here may remember, the game got rained out and never started. I jokingly told a few Yankee fans, "I said Clemens wouldn't get his 20th tonight and people didn't believe me."

Needless to say, I'm glad the attack on NYC wasn't 12 hours earlier.

The Red Sox MUST take care of their own business. With a playoff spot virtually assured (and most likely the division), it would be in the Yankees' best interest to keep the Sox out of the playoffs. After all, the Sox are 11-4 vs them. The Angels are a longshot for the wild card, but they still have a chance. Don't forget, the Rays still have seven games to play against the Yankees. There will be little incentive for the Yankees to win any games vs LAA or TB.

Honestly, if they just treated Lackey and his family better behind the scenes,,, we would be avoiding a lot of this late season bullshit.

True, the last three days have felt like we're lost at sea and drinking our own urine (sorry), but MFY have an extra game against Tampa and we hold the AL East tiebreaker. So, with the highly feasible outcome of a Rays win in that MFY makeup ... we're effectively one game back.

10 years ago, the Sox, sfip and I (although not seating together) were at the Toilet. The outfield that night turned into Lake Evil Empire. Shot below of the grounds crew trying to drain it. Brian Cashman came out in his $1,000 shoes and had to debate which watery route to take to go discuss the field conditions. The storm blew through and the next day the sky, as we all remember, was that brilliant blue.

That said, tonight may the boys of Boston play with the skill of which they are capable and the joy of Little Leaguers.

Win this one tonight.

Winning isn't everything, not even close to being everything...but it sure would be nice to see. Get this win and then let Lester take care of business tomorrow so you can rest up for the post-season.

Of the 48 players who appeared in games that year for the Sox, only five (David Cone, Joe Oliver, Bret Saberhagen, Dante Bichette, Craig Grebeck) were older than Time (I mean Tim) Wakefield.

Well, I was at his debut where he gave up six runs in the second inning......to the O's. The Red Sox won (Aceves with the W), but watching him wasn't pretty.

As it should be said every Tampa series, If Tampa really wants to be the Rays as in a shaft of light (which is lame) and not the Devil Rays, then they need to take that manta ray off the sleeve of their uniform.
