Because we'll likely need a few beers to get through this one.

Today (I'm west coast) I blew a tire after hitting a piece of road debris, had a shit day at work, and then had a trash bag rip on me on the way to the can while listening to the bullpen drop another game. Beer mojo stops the pain.

There's this, like, lattice of coincidence that lays on top of everything. Suppose you're thinking about a Papi homer. Suddenly someone'll say, like, "Papi," or "homer," or "Papi homer" out of the blue, no explanation.

KIller Miller at it again. Maybe some time out of the country will do him some good.

Hey Miller, be a Bud and start off every hitter with Dos Equis. Find your way into the 8th inning and, with a 3 run lead, hand it to Pabst...ugh. Sorry.
Don't pitch like I tell jokes. Win.

We've outscored them 24-12 and have lost 2 out of 3.. now that pisses me off.

I went looking for a clip of the scene in which Estevez dumps the "beer" on the floor of the junk yard office, but all I got was this replacement level T-shirt.

I'd settle for Miller reaching replacement level this evening, which is evidence of the devolution of declining expectations, I guess.

. . . . . .evidence of the devolution of declining expectations, I guess.

EXPECT NOTHING

Expect nothing. Live frugally On surprise. become a stranger To need of pity Or, if compassion be freely Given out Take only enough Stop short of urge to plead Then purge away the need. Wish for nothing larger Than your own small heart Or greater than a star; Tame wild disappointment With caress unmoved and cold Make of it a parka For your soul. Discover the reason why So tiny human midget Exists at all So scared unwise But expect nothing. Live frugally On surprise.

No, that's very good. Now can you work Schaeffer or Narragansett in there?

Well woven, sir, bringing together sub-threads of Repo Man, cheap beer and the mediocrity of the generic.

Such is the fabric of Andrew Miller.

I just found two things I'd forgotten (or never absorbed in the first place).

1. The "lattice of coincidence" character was named Miller.
2. Otto's response was, "You eat a lot of acid, Miller, back in the hippie days?"

Off the top of my head, there was a Bud, a Miller, and a Lite (light?) in RM.

According to IMDB
Bud (Harry Dean Stanton)
Miller (Tracey Walter)
Lite (Sy Richardson)
Oly (Tom Finnegan)
and Jimmy (Boat Drinks) Buffett (?!?) as an "additional blond agent"

I think Francona is showing guts in benching Crawford; benching Crawford is different from resting Gonzalez.

Is it worse to platoon a $142 mm player or Josh Reddick?

Yankees lose... Again to the Orioles. Please capitalize this time.

And I swore someone was joking when they said Scott Proctor is back with the Yankees until I saw him as the losing pitcher. How and when did that happen?

Tricky, but should have been caught. Bautista has looked really ugly in the field this series. Worse than I ever have seen him.

That's the second or third time this series that those two have had a near disastrous collision. They're going to get each other killed.

This can't make Wake feel any better. Before last night, the Sox were 73-2 when they have the lead after seven innings.

I wish the media would stop writing from a Wakefield-centric angle. If he wanted 200 wins so badly, he could try not sucking prolifically for five innings before turning the game over to the bullpen for a long save.
