Feel free to defend him all you want. This time or the next time he fucks up big time. Which will be in about four games or so.
I don't need to defend him. His record speaks for itself... reactionary bullshit posts aside.
That said, that was an absolutely awful way to end the game. Fuck.

But really, fuck. Played like shit for a while, and for the first time in a while, I'm worried about this club.

Also, I think they should cut Aviles. Nothing good has happened since he joined and he's not that good (unlike Bedard). Clearly he pissed off someone on BABIP Olympus.

His record, or the roster's record? You think whatever "average" manager you pull out of the sky would be that much worse as far as W/L goes?I don't need to defend him. His record speaks for itself... reactionary bullshit posts aside.

On the flip side, he has had ridiculously talented teams. There are a plenty of managers that could have won it all with what he had to work with in the years they won. I'm not commenting on his abilities as a manager at all, but it's worth noting that his deck has been pretty stacked since day one.

Just about everything about that game was fucked up.
But...I've decided Tim Wakefield needs my concern about as much as Greg Norman did back when I got all worked up when he lost the majors. He's probably got, what, 20 mill in the bank, at least. I'm gonna let him work it out without quite so much of my gut churning, which didn't seem to do any good for him anyway.
Sheesh.

We cannot afford that kind of in game managing in the middle of a pennant race...and mark my words this coaching problem will come back to haunt us at a time far more important than this.

This team has been pretty poor lately. If they hit the crap out of the ball, they are in ok shape. Otherwise, in a close game, they give away too much.

Who called that steal? Out by a mile.
There really should be someone in the organization whose job it is to make calls on what to do. When to pull a pitchers who does not have good stuff. Who to bring in to replace him. When to call for a steal.
Wait, what? There is? You mean the bald guy with the glasses?

Aviles is barely a marginal upgrade. Got out of my film class early to see that. What a joke.
Also, where are we going with this bullpen?

They should have had Papelbon ready to face Bautista. The chances of Bard getting him out there were laughably small. Why couldn't Tito see it coming to this. Was Albers the best we could get out there over a 36 pitch evolving disaster?
Paps should have been warming once it was bases loaded and nobody out. Agreed. I do not understand Albers there. You bring Paps in once Bard couldn't get that 3rd out and made it 8-7. But they seem completely against a Papelbon 4 out save this year. Has he had even one? I cannot recall, but perhaps he did.

Yeah, shit happens. Get over it. The Red Sox are making the playoffs. There is no "pennant race."Give me a break. They had a chance to pick up a game on NY tonight and Tito pissed it away.

The same way Bob Brenly's record did? Or Ozzie Guillen's does? Or, dare I say it- Grady's record did till that last game?
The ugly truth of the Red Sox is that if you give anyone manager in baseball half an all star team and they probably get them to the playoffs pretty regularly.
You give this team to Bruce Bochy, Or Madden, or Jim Leyland from about a decade ago and they're up on the MFY by four games right now. And likely have another ring.
