I'm still waiting for this Subscriber thing to kick in. Not as long as Tim Wakefield's been waiting. It's time.

Last time I was in the Rogers Centre, things looked bleak for the Bruins - but they would not lose again.

I'll be there again tonight. Timmy, it's time!

And speaking of time - I can remember bringing my step-son to Fenway to see Timmy pitch in a pennant race against Cal Ripkin and the Os. Can you believe this guy is still pitching in the majors?

Tim, it's "shit-or-get-off-the-pot" time, man. You've been in there a long time. Drop that big 200 pound deuce. Drop it on the Jays.

Also, I must say, game thread minimalism is back, and it's back big!

For crying out loud fellas, let's pick this guy up, score some runs, get him the big 200 and let him head out to the pasture with a smile. He's been a huge part of the Sox for a long time. Passion guys, passion.

Wait. Dont we want him to forever remain tied with Carlton in the dubious category of "most attempts at a 200th win?" Wouldn't making this record his bitch mean that he just stays stuck at 199?

Or did I misunderstand the previous post? Or yours?

Just win the damn game.

Who's to be the vulture tonight? My money is on Doubront, since Aceves threw 56 pitches in game 1. Morales is also well rested.

I don't make predictions often, but what the hell-

The Sox get into double digits in runs again by the middle of the fourth. Wake starts just throwing straight 'fastballs' for contact, knowing that even though a lot of them will get crushed, enough of them will get crushed right at someone, which gets him through six giving up somewhere in the upper single digits. Enough for the win, Morales/ Wheeler/ Albers for the seventh to get a shaky hold, then Bard and Paps for the win. Wakes finally gets his 200th, and goes right to the bullpen as the long guy for the last month and a half or so of his career.

Probably closer to the truth than not. Meanwhile enjoying the MFY's and their marathons of baseball last night and today even though they won last night.

I totally forgot they were playing this afternoon. And then again tomorrow afternoon. Weird scheduling. Part of some rainout makeup I assume.
Also interesting on the subject of scoreboard watching- with the Tigers winning and the Ranger's losing, Detroit now has the better record. So who gets the AL East champ and who gets the wild card isn't as certain as it once was.
Not to mention the Angels could get back within two of Texas tonight.

It's also in BALTIMORE... Yanks/O's play til 2:15am then go 11 the next afternoon, then have to get on a plane to play another day game in Baltimore... Girardi rested alot of his veterans today though.
It's a makeup game from their last series I believe...they were in Baltimore for the hurricane...either that or from earlier in the season that they had planned on making up the weekend of the hurricane.

The only prediction I feel safe in giving is that Morrow will throw 115 pitches, get 11 K's, give up 5 runs and 6 walks, and be gone by the 3rd.

Rather than watching the game tonight, I was thinking about watching the Yankees complain about scheduling for 3 hours on ESPN.

The likelihood of JD Drew ever appearing in a game for he Red Sox is rapidly diminishing...sad way to go.

Hm, mathematically possible? I guess if he balks enough to keep first base open.

I don't see any reason why the Sox wouldn't score a bunch of runs again today. Preferably in the first four innings.

It is sad. He generally gave good at bats in his time in Boston. I would have more confidence having him in RF leading in a post season game too.

Get it all done tonight, Timmeh - kick ass, gain a game and get that 200th! A little bit of help with the bats would be a good thing - hope it has not dried up again.

GO SOX - WIN200 TONIGHT!

I seem to remember back when Morrow was a fairly effective 7th and 8th inning bullpen guy, he shut the Red Sox down a few times in very close games in Safeco. I remember that horrible trip in 2007 or 2008 where the Sox kept losing one runs games, and I think Morrow kept them at bay late (I think I was at those games) and there was another game I remember that went extra innings, where he was nails and shut them down for at least a couple of innings, but they ultimately won it after he left the game. Since then, as a starter, the Sox have hit him pretty good.

He seemed pretty effective as a bullpen guy toward the end of 2008, when they tried to turn him into a starter. It didn't go great, and when they put him back in the bullpen, he was all screwed up. I guess at this point he is what he is -- a mediocre righty who can give you 150 innings of 4.50 ERA baseball as a starter.

Haven't those guys done well against the Sox this year?

I think it was still possible for him to turn his reputation around for a lot of people with a strong finish here (grand slam fist pump), but he will now forever be known as the guy who went out breaking his knuckle while swinging at a pitch on a rehab assignment for a hurt shoulder. Stranger than fiction.

Yeah. As frustrating as he can be to watch at the plate sometimes, he sees pitches and works counts, he's reliable if you want to hit and run, and he's very steady in the field.

I think he's made over $100 million in his career, despite averaging under 120 games a year (not counting his rookie season). Not too shabby. I guess a good looking swing from the left side is worth something.

Looks like St. Louis can kiss their fan base goodbye. If Pujols turns down 9 years at over $20 million a year, then he's definitely gonna be a Cub.

God I hate it when the Sox come to Seattle. I spend $200 and my kids leave wondering why I'm yelling at them. At least the commute is tolerable.

We could have had him for Crawford and Lackey dollars and worried about where to put him later. Even if he broke a hip in Year 5, it would still be a better value.
