I used to drink at a bar at Penn State called the Shandy Gaff. I think a gaff is a hook. Gardner's error was pretty explainable. Hard-hit liner hits in front of him, jumps off his chest. CC got him off the hook by making sure Teahen didn't score.

Jeter's end does not appear near this year. Posada is sitting on the bench like a guy who knows his time is over. Montero 2-for-2 today and ready to hit a bomb.

Me, too. I think CC has been in a lull right now (and the last few starts) before he goes off on another dominating stretch that hopefully lasts through October. The trick is how to pace the big guy through September because he never wants to miss a turn.

His lulls aren't too shabby, either.

But he went much further than not keeping up that pace - The rain delay game was his last July start, and in his 6 August starts he had a 4.68 ERA, with a .331 BAA, compared to 0.92 and .140 respectively in July.

He does seem to be bouncing back pretty well from the 128 pitch outing last time, but I'd take him out now, I think. Let Wade and Soriano or Mo try to close this one out, 107 is enough for today.

Plus CC's the best starter the Yanks have had in my fandom and I cant speak objectively about him.. He's been so awesome since coming here..

CC's slider was sharp again today.. That's a great sign.. To me, his fastball command has always come & gone..
