It's a joke how little accountability they have. They should have to face the media after every game like the players do.

For those without sound, what was Girardi going on about?
Salty swung at the pitch, which seemed to be true in this case, so it should not have been a HBP.

Amazing how many fans have left Fenway early tonight. I know the game's taken way too long, but come on.
What a tool, do he and Kay share the same brain?

The dead-center cam that parks are starting to adopt and Pitch FX must terrify the umpires union. Their incompetence has never been quite so apparent. The umpires ability to willingly change a game like this is ruining the sport for me.

According the YES, the Yankees have made a statement.
That statement: We will continue to act like put-upon little dickbags, even when the home plate ump is handing us favors all night.
Remember the NY reaction after they beat Lester in game 1 of last series? They were all sucking eachothers dicks and then they lost the series, lol.

The Yankees literally had everything break right for them and they barely won the game and they know it.

So here's a thought. Proactively seek to improve.

Does anyone have a screencap from that called third strike Lowell took a few years ago? It was a rare Mariano strike zone enforced on a righty, and it was the worst call I've ever seen.

Ah, lovely. You'd think him jumping out of the way of the ball would have tipped the ump off that it was a little inside. Alas...

Cervelli can douche it up as much as he wants. Just don't act surprised when you get thrown at.

Offhand thought, but was there even one throw over to first tonight?
I swear, I don't remember even one. Had to be a few.
Lackey definitely threw over at least once when Granderson was on.

I feel the same way. Umpires continually get worse with no repercussions. The automated strike zone cannot come soon enough.

If only that was the only injustice that night:

But Jesus, nights like this really shake my dedication. None of those things looked remotely like a strike. Players train for years to operate with the set strike zone, and they get it right. They have to, because there are consequences to getting it wrong. They make outs, they lose games. There are no such consequences for umpires. Rapuano fucks up an entire game, takes a team's legs out from under it? Nbd. He probably goes home, has a beer, pats himself on the back.
Would we have won with a decent umpire tonight? Maybe not. Lackey sucked, and the rest of the team made its share of mistakes. But we'll damn sure never know now.

The problem is widespread it has both hurt and helped the Sox this year. Maybe their suckitude evens out over the year.I feel the same way. Umpires continually get worse with no repercussions. The automated strike zone cannot come soon enough.

I keep telling myself that Sox would have lost even if Lowrie had reached, but what sucks is that we never got a chance to find out how that ab should have gone. Something has to be done about the umps, but as long as MLB has a corpse for a commish, I'm not holding my breath.

I just think that giving the best closer in history extra help is ridiculous. He's bowling with bumpers.

I'd like to nominate this zone for worst of the year, but sadly it probably doesn't even crack the top 1,000.
I count 13 pink triangles outside the zone and 1 square, wonderful

BTW I'm not blaming the umps for the loss. The Sox stranded 100000 runners and deserved to lose.
I just think that giving the best closer in history extra help is ridiculous. He's bowling with bumpers.
They did strand quite a few runners, but some of those runners should have been on with one out, not two...or no outs..etc. In addition it's a lot harder to get clutch hits when you're protecting a strikezone 10" wider than it should be..and the difference of hitting in a pitcher's count vs hitting from behind.
The ump changed the game to the point where noone knows what the outcome would have been.
