On the flip side, the man we've loved to hate for most of the season is 7-1 with a 4.11 ERA in his last 9 starts. Cooperstown isn't calling for his jersey but them are respectable stats.
And I know that I think he can and will beat those miscreants. I bet he and his teammates feel the same way.
Does this mean jack? I don't know. But I like it.

Seems like it could go either way.
BUT
The MFYs are apparently rolling out Hughes AND Burnett the next two days vs Beckett and Lester. I don't know about you, but if we win tonight I think we have a great shot at a sweep.

Not to be lost in the numbers, though, is how each of those losses took the wind out of MFY windbag fans, and their pretensions for a 2011 championship. Even the most delusional MFY fan (think Staten Island grown-man-in-mom's-basement loser with pinstripe bedsheets) knows that Sabathia must be an absoulte rock this season if the yankees have any chance. Thus, the delightfulness:
-- April 10 Sox 4-0 5.2 1ER (Best part: Sox came into Fenway winless, took 2 of 3 and suddenly Beckett is an ace again)
-- May 14 Sox 6-0 6.2 6ER (Best part: Gonzo's "ichiro" homer in the 7th, is middle game of Bronx sweep)
-- June 9 Sox 8-3 6.2 6ER (Best part: CC had 2-0 lead into the 7th and was absolutely cruising after 2 hits early. Out of nowhere, we bat around. Finishes 2nd Bronx sweep.)
-- Aug. 6 Sox 10-4 6.0 7ER in a Lackey game no less (Best part: Besides hanging 7 runs on a guy who came in with a 2.55 ERA, it set up a 1-2 nutpunch with the following night's Mariano blown save and subsequent MFY fan fretdom over the team's two absolute musts being non-locks against the Sox).

With a rested bullpen, I would expect Bowden was sent down to make room for a position player. Maybe someone Theo wants on the 25-man roster for the Aug. 31 deadline. Iglesias? He has some value as a pinch runner and is likely to get called up next month anyway. However, PawSox are headed for the playoffs, and they might want to keep Iglesias down there until that is over.
There are 2 players on the 60 day DL that we know will not come back in DiceK and Hill. 4 more players are also on the DL, although it is likely they will be active by the end of the season (with the possible exception of Buch). So it's not like they need to call someone up just for eligibility.

Agreed, glad that Wake will not be pitching this weekend.Wakefield being pushed back until Toronto series. Miller, Bedard, Lackey vs Texas this weekend. Thank god.
If he wasn't going for 200, would he be slated to face Toronto?

Nice recount but in the Aug. 6 game, Jacoby's 6 RBI has to be mentioned.Sabathia in four starts vs. the Sox is 0-4, getting rocked for 20 earned runs in 25 innings.
I watched one the Massacre II games there in 2006. Judging by the number of Wade Boggs BP jerseys I saw that night I'd say its a legit spot.I still lack the internet at my place, but for the first time since moving to Chicago I am going to try and not watch a Sox game on my iPhone. Someone told me that the "Tripoli Tap" was a good place to watch Boston sports. Can anyone confirm this?

Career stats vs. CC
For whatever reason, the numbers you posted seem to leave out the 2011 season entirely. Per ESPN, career stats against Sabathia (2011 included):
Ellsbury (21 AB): .238/.292/.429
Scutaro (35 AB): .314/.429/.314
Gonzalez (21 AB): .238/.360/.381
Pedroia (32 AB): .219/.306/.250
Ortiz (46 AB): .217/.280/.370
Lowrie (12 AB): .250/.250/.417
Crawford (67 AB): .313/.324/.403
Saltalamacchia (9 AB): .222/.300/.333
McDonald (10 AB): .100/.100/.400

Nice recount but in the Aug. 6 game, Jacoby's 6 RBI has to be mentioned.
Indeed. But my favorite is the third game, June 9. MFY come in 1 game behind us in the division, determined to deny us a second sweep in the Bronx.
First two up in the bottom of the first, Jeter HBP and a Granderson bomb, makes it 2-0 before everyone's in their seats. Sabathia gives up a harmless single to Ells in the 1st, Crawford in the 2nd. Then absolutely dominates without a hit in the next four frames. Even plunks Papi in the 4th, consequence-free. And looks like he might go 9.
Then we plate 7. I'm gonna say 2 in 5 yankee fans stopped truly believing they could win it all this year during that exact inning.
Extinguish more hopes tonight!
