Yeah, the Razr definitely came out at a weird time. Moto should have released it during the summer, or waited another month or two so it could have ICS. I think their selling points will be the slim form factor, higher megapixel camera, and a lot of consumers either not knowing the difference between OS versions or preferring the Moto UI.

I'm not that worried about it, I love the phone as it is. I can understand why they take time to push updates: a.) a big change in UI from 2.3 to 2.4 might be a bit of a shock for customers that get comfortable with 2.3 and b.) Google would be smart to have the only device with ICS be their flagship phone for the time being so people will buy that phone.

Also, if I really want ICS, I could always root the phone and grab it. I don't think it'll be a problem waiting.

Yeah, the GSII is definitely still an awesome smartphone, and it should get the 4.0 update relatively soon. The real issue is how long will I have to wait with my GS Vibrant...sigh.

They definitely should have waited until at least next week for the RAZR announcement, but I think they still went with the announcement, because the GNexus/ICS announcement was originally supposed to be last week, and Moto probably didn't want to wait any longer, with the iPhone 4S already out.

It took 4 months for Best Buy's first price drop for the Nexus S. The Nexus S was official on 6 December 2010 at $199.99 with a 2-year contract, and the first sale was on 10 March 2011 for two weeks at $99.99 with a 2-year contract.

Actually, I use about 28GB of SD storage and 1GB of my phone's internal storage, so 32 would be enough for me right now. But I don't want to use the cloud for music and I like watching movies on my phone.

Above the battery, there's a SIM card slot. Sadly, a microSD slot is missing. There's no way of expanding the in-built storage memory on the Galaxy Nexus.

That's one of the killers of the Galaxy Nexus for me. Verizon just activated 4G in my area, and I am currently using a rooted/rom'd Thunderbolt, but I am going to either jump to the Bionic, Razr, or Nexus once they are all released.

What sucks about the Razr is the fact that the battery isn't user replaceable, so if battery life sucks, no shot at improving it. What sucks about the Bionic is that the bootloader is locked. What sucks about the Nexus is the lack of expandable storage. Which sucks less? Decisions, decisions.

You guys are really overstating the problems with Motoblur.

About the only thing I notice with Motoblur on my Bionic is actually an enhancement (and something ICS is moving to); a program tray that scrolls left to right instead of up/down. And the program tray adds groups that are quick and easy to access (instead of just ALL/RECENT I can create folders for sports, games, etc.

This is my 3rd Moto Android (original Droid, DX, and an Incredible in between) and the first one I've had no desire to put a custom ROM on. It is rooted, but still running the stock ROM.

The radios are basically driver updates for the communications on the phone. Its device specific, not ROM. Typically you want the most recent radio as it has minor tweaks to improve under-the-hood stuff, sometimes increasing battery life by adjusting the signal reception mechanics.

On the expandable storage thing, I think Google wants you to use more google provided, cloud-based options (music, docs, etc). That gets them more data points to provide more relevant ads to increase their revenue. 16/32 is still a lot.

I've seen a few roms that require at least a certain radio or hboot because of the customization they've done but they usually only say that because its what they were testing with so they know that it works.

Calls work just fine. I know what you're referring to regarding VoLTE; suffice to say, I don't know precisely how my phone is handling phone calls. I just know it's on LTE mode, never switches to 3G, calls work great, and battery is great.

As for Super AMOLED Plus vs. not-plus - again, I think this is a bit silly. I personally feel like it's all some extreme nitpicking, but that's my opinion. Of course, ideally you go to the Verizon store and see it for yourself before you buy it in case the screen sucks. I just can't imagine a flagship device like this will have a truly crappy screen. Will it have the same DPI as the iPhone? No. That doesn't mean it's ugly.

From what I've seen regarding statements by hardware manufacturers, it makes you wonder if any phone older than 6 months will ever see an upgrade.

I wonder what effect Amazon's proprietary manipulations will have on Google's update schedule in the future. Seems to me like something like that lights a fire under their ass to move as fast as possible to upgrade and improve the platform. Looks like a gauntlet thrown that they won't ignore.

Those buttons will still work as they do in current Android. Whether or not the on-screen buttons will appear or not, I don't know.

There are plenty of reasons why many phones will wait a long time for ICS (or never see it at all), but I doubt trying to figure out what to do with the buttons is in the top ten. Making sure the hardware can actually handle the demands of the OS is probably #1 - the rest of the delays will likely have to do with getting carrier approval, making sure that manufacturers' apps work, making sure the carrier's apps work, and trying to push people on older phones to upgrade to newer phones.

Google's job in getting 4.0 to the masses is almost done - at this point the carriers and manufacturers are the ones doing the heavy lifting.

I love that HTC is unlocking the bootloader and making these devices easily hackable, so I won't worry about ever receiving ICS because I'll be throwing Cyanogen Mod on it as soon as it's released.

Root and rom and you will have no problem.

I am pretty disappointed by the thickness of the Rezound. It's a beast specs wise, but it doesn't look like I'll be getting a slimmer device if I dump my Thunderbolt for it. Plus it has a lower battery rating than the Nexus and Razr so I imagine I will be compelled to buy another Seidio extended battery for it.
