So it begins.

A mix of the old, with the youngest starting 11 in the league in 2010. The season dedicated to Myra Kraft:

Posted Image

I'll be watching the following:

On offense:
  • OchoCinco - the first catch will draw more than a few applause
  • Gronk - how much will he play?
  • Price - is the new hype real?
  • Lee Smith - top 3 candidate for the new cult fan fav (also, how many 2, 3 set TE sets will be employed?
  • Solder - let's see if he gets pushed back on a bull rush or two
  • OL depth - the most worrisome area, and we'll see a lot of subs playing (esp. Ohrnberger)

On defense:
  • DL play: by far the most intriguing, although I doubt we'll see a lot of vets play
  • End rush: who'll line up on the edge and handle the rush?
  • Bodden: just seeing him line up opposite McCourty will make me happy
  • Safety depth: who'll step up? A bit thin in this area with hobbling Sanders

On ST:
  • New rules: on the record, I hate the nerfed ST play.
  • KO returners - who'll make a difference? Tate on the bubble?
  • Ghost - just drive a few into the endzone and we'll forget about last year

Misc:
  • Will BB shake Del Rio's hands?

CANNOT WAIT!

Belichick apparently said if players didn't practice today, don't expect them to play. Those out today were:

Rob Gronkowski
Albert Haynesworth
Mike Wright
Ryan Wendell
Eric Kettani
Dan Connolly
Chris Morris
Brandon Spikes
Kevin Faulk
Shane Vereen
Brandon Tate
Matt Light
Marcus Cannon
Ron Brace
Shaun Ellis
Brandon Deaderick
Josh Barrett
Ras-I Dowling
James Sanders

Looking forward to going to this game with my dad. Plus it gets me away from baby duty for 4-5 hours.

I have a feeling we'll have a better view to analyze the game then he will. But he can let us know how the beer tastes and how much fun he had.

Anyone know a good place to watch the Pats in Arlington, VA? I just moved here from Boston and know plenty of Sox bars but haven't found a Pats bar yet. Thanks!

I'm hoping to see lots of Mallett and, for Jax, Gabbert. I'm also interested in watching T. Price and N. Solder. And as always...

They're trying to limit his throws in the preseason. There are only so many shots left in that howitzer.

Don Criqui and Randy Cross. Ah shit.

And it's only been one night since I had the misfortune of hearing John Harkes brutal cadence again.

Why bother? No one but lunatics like us watch the preseason, and they know we'd watch if Elmer Fudd and Elmo were calling the games.

Right now, it sounds like he might lose his voice by the end of the first quarter. This is a good thing.

I'd watch if this was being called by Bob Neumeier and Hawk Harrelson.

Which is another way of saying, shut the fuck up and enjoy football. =)

I know. It's not like it would give them any ROI. I guess what irks me is that they're one of the marquee franchises in all of American sports. You'd think they would want to raise the bar a little bit, is all. I mean fuck, why not just go whole hog and don't have any announcers at all? That would save them even more money while also providing a more enjoyable experience for us fans.

Actually, this would be pretty awesome. I know I enjoy it in baseball.
