It's kind of awesome that our back-up catcher is better than many team's starter. Also kind of awesome that nobody saw it coming.

Well Arietta pitched 3 good innings against the MFYs before imploding. :(

Also, I'm not sure which station the BBC Radio coverage is getting their commentary from, but that was the most laid-back HR call I've ever heard.

RH Tek timed that beautifully. More pitchers should throw him changeups middle-in.

Going one step further, has a switch-hitter ever scrapped their weaker side late in their career?

JT Snow comes to mind. He stopped hitting right and went to exclusively lefty late in his career.

He's also got a really good cutter and he's death on lefties, which will really help the Rangers against the Yankees (with all the switch hitters) and the Red Sox (with all the lefties).

Considering that Tek is at OPS .737 RHB and .729 LHB this year, I don't think he'll be inclined to take your advice. The resurgence of LH Tek is the biggest surprise this year.

i'd be interested to see this expressed as some kind of rate stat (how often they convert two out RBI opportunities, or what % of their runs come with 2 out) since they also lead MLB in runs, period.

I'd counter with the likelihood of him maintaining his 18% HR/FB. But either way I don't think he'd be very inclined to ever take my advice.
