Is this a "grown man move" for Jackson?

Apparently 'charisma' goes a long way with some decision makers. Wow. At least they are saving some money hiring him and not some other heavyweight.

Watching the last finals game with the sound off was a great relief. Will his players want to listen to him that much more than us? It will be quite a shock if he succeeds.

I'd consider paying $5-$6 bucks a month for a bi-weekly show on nbatv of Mark Jackson mic'd up during practices and games.

I think maybe, just maybe, by the AS break his players will stop laughing to hear his off/def play calls.

I respectfully disagree. As one of the best point guards in NBA history, I think he'll be good for Curry and Ellis. We got tired of his TV cliches ("mama there goes that man", "energy and effort" etc.) but I thought his analysis was pretty good at times and he's called out stars during the broadcast and I'm guessing he'll do it as a coach too.

I don't know - I'm on a different page on this one than you guys - I actually think he can do well.

Holy cow, do I disagree with this. He made one All-Star team and zero All-NBA teams. I know he piled up an obscene amount of assists, but early in his career, opposing PGs would take the ball away from him coming up court at least once per game, and late in his career, his main asset was his gigantic ass that allowed him to run the offense from the post. He was a lousy defender throughout both phases. I'm pretty sure that Curry and Ellis can't learn anything from that unless they plan to get giant ass implants.

(Yes, I irrationally hate Mark Jackson.)

Granted Jackson has about zero coaching credentials, but I think he deserves a chance. Personally I wouldnt hire him as a head coach, but I would give him a chance as an offensive coach. On-air he sounds like a fool at times, and he certainly doesnt point out issues and strategy on the air like JVG does. However, he was an effective PG and he wasnt blessed with speed or athleticism, his main asset was his basketball mind, so I think there is some hope that he could be at least be an effective offensive coach. That said, the Warriors problem since Nellie was there has been defense and I dont know if Jackson can coach them up in this aspect and make them respectable. So while I think Jackson deserves a chance in the coaching ranks [although he shouldnt be a head coach yet IMO], I think this was a silly hire for GS.

I think this is also some more evidence that Jerry West has probably had the game pass him by if he endorsed this move.

He'll last a couple of years at most, then go back to TV.

Why the hell aren't Jeff van Gundy and Jon Gruden coaching right now??

Jvg doesn't want to coach. He withdrew from a few searches this off-season

They prefer to work a lot less hard for almost the same money. Hard to blame them for that.

I guess I am one of the few here who enjoy Mark Jackson on the telecasts. I will miss the banter between Van Gundy and Jackson. Maybe a three-man booth of Hubie Brown, Van Gundy and Breen would be awesome. And I really hope Jalen Rose doesn't move to color commentary.

Oh dear. I get ill every time I hear Breen's voice. I can't stand his false enthusiam-- he's the ultimate mindless NBA shill. When he does the play-by-play I mute the sound. And thank god Doug Collins got a coaching job so I don't have to listen to him anymore.

As for Jackson, how much worse can he be than Reggie Theus?

I thought that was a contest to see who could jizz the most over Lebron and DWade.

Breen wins that one hands down. As a consequence, his neglected wife must be doing the cabana boy.
