Scout, are you going to have a twitter board for us?
Fine tuning it it still, I took off Fitt and Rodgers who were talking all about the tourny and not the draft. I'll update throughout tomorrow based on who is talking what and post it a few time as updates come.

If you want to PM me your cell number I'll send you the picks when they happen. It is the least I can do.Unfortunately, I have to coach tomorrow night. Second year in a row I'll miss day one. All the action is on day two, anyway.

Edit: What Phrag said.
Adding on, I think the DBacks really want Hultzen. I think they will pop him at 3.

9:24Comment From Eric Who are the red sox hoping drop to them at number 19?
9:25Frankie Piliere: They seem to be laying back and seeing what's there. I think perfect world they'd like to see one of the top college arms slip to them.
Agree completely.

I do not want to touch Hedges. Not a huge fan of Meyer. If we go college player that should be around at #19 I want Susac.

I want 2 of 3: Bell, Nimmo, Swihart

I agree with all of this. If I had my choice of which two of the three, it would be Bell and Swihart.

I'd be surprised if they couldn't get Swihart in the supplemental b/c of his big bonus demands.I agree with all of this. If I had my choice of which two of the three, it would be Bell and Swihart.
From recent history, the Sox usually take a high-talent toolsy non-signability concern with their first pick and wait for the uber-talent high-bonus guys until the supplemental. It won't surprise me to see Josh Bell and Blake Swihart with the Sox at the end of the night because of their willingness to open their checkbook...

That is more good news than bad news for the Sox.

That's how it usually works, if people think this is their last chance to be a great team and get great talent.... I could see all of those guys going in the first round. Texas could pay. Toronto could. Tampa could #1 pay or #2 push picks in to next year.
I actually think Swihart is the most likely to go in the first round, and I really wouldn't be shocked to see him go top 15 picks.

Jed Bradley, Matt Barnes, Taylor Guerrieri, Alex Meyer (all pitchers) as well as Mike Mahtook could be there for them at 19.
It all depends on how the draft shakes out. Who knows? maybe Bubba Starling falls to 19.
The latest rumor I'm seeing it it will start Cole, Lindor, Bauer - but I'm just repeating rumor and hearsay at this point.
Should be an exciting night.

I'm saying it will be Cole, Rendon, Hultzen, Bundy, Bauer in the top 5.

MyMLBDraft.net has Bradley at 19 and Beede at 26. That would be disappointing if they don't get Bell.
That is a pretty awesome haul to be disappointed in. Bell could fall to 36 too. I wouldn't get my hopes up for bell though.
I think so too. It's the general consensus. Starling next.I'm saying it will be Cole, Rendon, Hultzen, Bundy, Bauer in the top 5.

Schilling works out with Beede in suburban Boston. I agree, very surprising he hypes him up.A kid he knows and one of the best HS arms in a decade. SHOCKING.

I think there is a good chance he is there at 19I kind of hope Levi Michael drops to 19 as well. He was the best player I saw play all year. Cannon of an arm from SS and can really hit. If the Sox think they can turn him into a 3B, I'd take a chance on him.

This one:
11:23Comment From Tim How strongly do you feel that Boston takes at least one of Bell or Swihart?
11:24Frankie Piliere: Not strongly but more strongly than for any other clubs. Not trying to be the riddler but yeah I think that makes sense.

The Bell/Swihart question to the Sox was mine. We are dominating.

11:36Frankie Piliere: Nimmo the most likely. Probably followed by Beede if I'm considering that they might get another shot at the other two later on.

Nimmo, Swihart, Bell, Beede. Which 2 are the likeliest choices for Boston in rd.1?
Nimmo the most likely. Probably followed by Beede if I'm considering that they might get another shot at the other two later on.

KLaw's new mock has Meyer at 19 and Chris Reed (LHP Stanford) at 26
Awful mock is awful.
Frankie Piliere is the only guy with credible insider information.

Not really interested in taking Jeff Keppinger in the 1st round.

19. RED SOX: Other teams believe Boston will take a guy who fits into the slot parameters here, then get aggressive with its next three picks in the first and sandwich rounds. The Red Sox would love for one of the college pitchers to fall to them, and while Barnes, Bradley and Jungmann all look like they're going in the top 10, Gray could last this long. They offered Meyer $2 million out of high school, and he's another possibility. Projected Pick: Sonny Gray.
26. RED SOX: Boston will start spending its money here. The Red Sox are linked to every catcher, and the best in this draft are high schoolers Austin Hedges (California) and Blake Swihart (New Mexico). Their high price tags could make them available in the sandwich round, which could allow Boston take Nimmo or Massachusetts prep righthander Tyler Beede here. They won't come cheap, either. Ross is an option priced closer to slot. Projected Pick: Austin Hedges.

[Comment From Austin Austin: ] What are you hearing the Rangers will do at 33 and 37? 12:40Frankie Piliere: Athletes. Travis Harrison is who I projected in my mock. Sticking with that one. I think they might a team to take a shot at Swihart.

Austin Hedges, no thanks. If we want an all-defense catcher for whatever reason we can sign a veteran one for a million per season. It would suck to take Hedges, and to take him in stead of Swihart would be brutal.

That's in comparison with public opinion and available scouting reports. I would be happy with either.
Lindor at 19 would be a dream come true.
I think he can develop into a more consistent version of Rollins with a bit less speed.
I have Nimmo right there with Bell...2 of the most well-rounded guys in the draft...potential .300/30 HR fellows with above-average defense in RF and some burn on the basepaths.
Meyer in the 1st round would be terrible. You don't touch 2-pitch guys with bad command in the 1st round.
Still love Beede. Funny to see how little hype he's getting b/c he doesn't touch 98, LOL. If you can pitch, you can pitch. He has a solid fastball, great secondary stuff, advanced command, great mechanics, terrific poise, and a prototypical frame.

Won't happen but nice try Jim.
Odds are against any specific choice happening, but BA (and Callis specifically) have the best track record in predicting the first round. I'll try to tally up who is the best this year; perhaps it will change. It is certainly a sss.

[Comment From Jonathen Jonathen: ] Who goes highest Bell, Nimmo, or Swihart? 1:08 Jonathen1:08Frankie Piliere: Surprisingly it might be Nimmo at 26 if Bell doesn't go to Boston with their first pick.
