I give them a little credit for sticking to their board and not the publications'.Chicago's drafting strategy really boggles my mind. Why they would bother to draft unknown Cuban defectors and the Hayden Simpsons of the world with their first pick? I do not know. Would they really not be available at their next picks?

I guess, but I mean, Simpson is getting SHELLED in A ball. And he doesn't even have the high school pitcher adjusting to the pros excuse.I give them a little credit for sticking to their board and not the publications'.

My thanks to all GG33, ehaz, phragle et al for the insight. Wish I had the time to watch some of these kids. Wish I had the chance to be some of these kids!

It really depends on whether they've got a feeling for the other teams' boards. If no one else has him in the top 100, you're making a big mistake grabbing him in the top 10.

Fine tuning it it still, I took off Fitt and Rodgers who were talking all about the tourny and not the draft. I'll update throughout tomorrow based on who is talking what and post it a few time as updates come.

I hear he has a plus plus Vulcan changeup.I can't decide which is worse: Simpson last year or Spock this year.

Thanks GG33. I am trying to restrict to few experts so the tweet flow don't overwhelm me. I remember last draft it worked well, but this year no such luck so far.

Gammons just said Hultzens family wants him to go to medical school and he'll get some 20 million dollar inheritance if he becomes a doctor? Does anyone know more about this? (this was on TV)
Now that is interesting. If it is from his parents, he will get it even if he does not become a doctor.

Cubs Cuban shocker. Doesn't really scream "first round".According to one source, Garcia pitched three seasons with Guantanimo, going 12-12, 4.73 over 205 innings. In 46 games (45 starts), he struck out 195 but walked 128. His last season was 2009-10, when he went 5-6, 3.40.

Buzz: Starling potentially in play for AZ at 7, Swihart potentially as well. I think these are both wildcards, particularly Swihart, had a couple people tell me this

But that's just me... catcher is no longer an organizational need with Salty locking up the position for the next 5 years
Which is about the time it takes to develop a catcher in the minors. So a catcher, especially a HS catcher, would seem to make sense

Kevin_Goldstein: MLB has sent letter saying Gus Dominguez is WRONG, the Office of the Commissioner has determined that Garcia has established residency.
Mon Jun 06 - 5:38:59 pm
Kevin_Goldstein: More Cuban LHP AWESOMENESS: Agent Gus Dominguez has contacted teams to let them know Onelki Garcia is NOT draft eligible.
http://www.baseballp....php?chatId=846We understand that Gus Dominguez has contacted Clubs for the purpose of asserting that Onelki Garcia is not eligible for the 2011 First-Year Player Draft, which begins this evening. Consistent with the attached, which Joel Araujo sent to your attention on Saturday, June 4, please be advised that the Office of the Commissioner has determined that Garcia has established residency in the United States and is therefore subject to the 2011 First-Year Player Draft.
Based on the information we have received regarding Garcia’s residency status, it is our understanding that Garcia established residency and began working out in the United States in February 2011. We have repeatedly requested that Gus Dominguez provide us with documentary evidence supporting his claim that Garcia is a legal resident of a country other than the United States, but no such information has been provided to us. The Office of the Commissioner is, of course, unable to declare a player ineligible for the Rule 4 Draft based solely on the bare assertions of his representative that he is not a resident of the United States within the meaning of Major League Rule 4. As a result, the Office of the Commissioner has determined that Garcia is subject to the First-Year Player Draft.

This is just hilarious. Rumors of the Cubs wanting Starling to fall to them have been around for days. Just as it appears like it actually might happen, it comes out that they want... Speck?
If Starling falls to them, they'll take him. These guys I don't think are THAT DUMB...Then again...
Does anyone have a report on Speck? Does he project as a better end of the game arm?
