Stoke 1-0 Liverpool
Stats don't tell the whole story, but here's a few:
Shots: Liverpool 24, Stoke 3
Shots on goal: Liverpool 7, Stoke 1
Possession: Liverpool 73%, Stoke 27%
But Stoke converted a penalty, Liverpool had a couple of shouts turned down, and the Reds couldn't convert one of their many opportunities. One of those days...
There was also about 5 potential handballs in the box that could have been called against Stoke. One of those non-calls was what set Suarez off to go after the assistant referee and get a yellow.

In the same sequence, Agger got hurt. All is right in the world.
26' Agger finally off after trying to tough it out - Coates in.
Adam gets his 2nd booking. This one was legitimate, the first one was pretty suspect.

Suarez has to have a better strike on a set piece from the top of the 18. Oh well, still early in the season and a much better place within the table as compared to last year.

Not much to say, other than they kept it 1-0 and almost got the equalizer playing 10 vs. 11. The other 3 didn't come until they were down to 9.
Pool was really impressive to me, but the Suarez yellow should have been nipped in the bud by Carragher. There's no reason for a guy who has a rep as a hothead to be screaming at the ref for that long without the captain jumping in.
It was very strange to see Carra let him sink out there, since the last thing Liverpool needed at that point was someone else carrying a yellow.

I'm sure Gerrard will play some part, if not start, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Carroll and Bellamy start up front.
I see plenty of goals & maybe even extra-time and penalties to decide this one.

My local EPL pub claims to be showing it, so if you can slip out for a full Irish breakfast, you may be able to catch it without having to worry about buffering.
where are you watching the matches now? I can't do Saturdays until the boys hockey practice ends, but would be down for the next Sunday match.

If all Mancs are like Zomp, I can probably take a dozen of them easily.

What a strike by Adam, hit the underside of the crossbar - not sure how Fellaini wasn't called for a handball, but I can't complain about Atkinson really. He's given us nearly all the breaks.

I don't know, for me, it's moments like that, that make Suarez hard to like sometimes.
I don't know if I've ever seen a red card that wasn't even a foul until today.
Its funny how Dlew has his jersey when he's basically your version of Nani/Cristiano...

Obviously, a terrible decision on the red card.
Good to see Carroll get the goal. Nice work by Bellamy and Enrique to set it up. The second from Suarez was just down to horrible defending.
Kuyt's taken plenty of penalties before, this is the first one I remember him missing. I've got no problem with him being the guy if Gerrard is out. At least he made Howard save it, as opposed to the one Suarez took earlier this year that he put a couple of yards over the bar.
It's nice to see Gerrard being slowly worked back in. With the depth in the side, plus not having midweek European games, there's no need to rush him back before he's ready.
Internationals next weekend, so it's 2 weeks until the next game. A fairly big one...Man U at Anfield.

Hey Wingack, you keep trying to justify having a 5' 10" walking vagina in the side, and I'll keep enjoying Suarez.
As for the particular play, if you don't think that sliding through a player's planted foot is a foul, well, I'll ask again: Do you watch a lot of soccer? You can skip that lame-ass "He won the ball!" Andy Gray shit, too, since that interpretation hasn't been operative since Liverpool was sponsored by Crown Paints.
Atkinson made a poor call, presumably because from his angle he thought Rodwell went in with two feet on Suarez's planted ankle. But Everton can stop with their crocodile tears. Shit happens. Liverpool would have had 3 points from the Stoke match if the referee hadn't sucked.

I've seen less contact called a foul, and I've seen more contact ignored. The ref was close by, but had a lousy angle. All he saw was Rodwell's leg in the air. He definitely blew the call, and the fact he has a history with Moyes doesn't help when it comes to the postgame discussions.
The funny part is, the worst challenge of the entire game was Hibbert taking out Adam, and that didn't even get a whistle, much less a card.

And yes, I've seen enough of him to know he's no angel, but he's got a way to go to get to Ronaldo/Nani levels.
I haven't forgotten those times Ronaldo and Nani performed deliberate hand balls to cheat Ghana in the World Cup. Very dastardly of them.
