"When I drink water, I put syrup in it."

"Is that good for you?"

(Slight pause.) "I guess."

Awesome.

Ok, so my previous attempt at being ITK was pretty woeful Posted Image

We ended up with Virgin Money instead of SD as I had heard elsewhere.

Anyway, second attempt:

Apparently Pardew is confident of getting two players in this January, and he doesn't expect anyone to leave unless mega money is offered. That's not really anything we didn't expect except the second signing. I would think that we were only looking at getting a CB, but hopefully we'll be able to sneak in an LB or an RB as well.

And now the more interesting bit: the club has four or five deals set up for the summer. All the deals are at a pretty advanced stage, and Pardew's confident that the squad will look pretty unrecognizable come August 2012 compared to what it was when we were promoted.

It sounds quite good and actually jives with the report that we made a 2m bid for this French midfielder playing for Dijon. Hopefully it comes true. It seems that our scouting setup is really working some magic.

But...he did this, so by Apisith's logic, he is a c\/nt who must be shunned. THERE'S NO ROOM FOR THIS IN MY TEAM!!!!!

What an idiot you are.

Jesus Christ, can you not read? I actually posted in the Suarez thread multiple times that I'd love him in B&W, even if I hate his guts.

I'll be consistent if Ben Arfa pulls the same shit here. Got it?

All that matters is this club is a better team when Ben Arfa is on the pitch. Today is a perfect example of that.

Yup. Three more points. Back above Liverpool, too.

We need a couple more players and we'll be in great shape for the second half of the season; hopefully a LB and a ST.

I've seen him once but wasn't actually really paying attention.

I'm just happy because our scouting team has been scouting him for two years, so they're obviously very confident. We went for him in the summer but Freiburg refused. The fact that we went back in again is a sign that we really want him. Our scouting team has a very good record - Cabaye, Tiote and Santon are prime examples of excellent players that we have bought very cheaply - and I trust them to continue unearthing bargains. For what it's worth, Cisse was valued at 12-14m in the summer. Freiburg are in trouble now so we've been able to do a deal for 8+2m.

So let's not even talk about that... thing that happened yesterday. Fucking Damien Duff.

In other news, Senegal took a step towards sending Ba and Cisse home a little earlier than expected by losing their opening match in the ACoN.

And now they've just lost to Equatorial Guinea (seriously? I mean, I know they're the hosts and everything, but... seriously?), so they've been eliminated and it's possible Ba and Cisse could (should?) both be back in the lineup for Blackburn.

Great win over Villa. Ba with a real poacher's goal in the first half- Robbie Keane equalizes right at the half and then new boy PAPISS CISSE with a thundering left foot in the second half. Cisse's goal was an absolute gem and right in front of the Gallowgate End- probably a tad different than scoring for Freiburg. Sheareresque.

If those two keep it up I may have to convert to Islam.

Watch out.

That goal from Cisse was a paragon of patience. Most guys just fire that ball at the net. He knew he had time, let the ball settle and hit it on the bounce, placing it perfectly in that corner. DeAndre Jordan couldn't have blocked that.

We should just corner the market of guys with Demba in their names

And the ONE time you want Man Utd to win...

Good enough -- an inspired effort from Webb to grab the draw from the jaws of defeat.

All the signs that read "St. James Park" were removed from the stadium as the name "Sports Direct Arena" takes hold.

Apparently some graffiti artists strayed "St. James" back onto the stadium shortly afterwards.

Nice. The stadium is smack in the middle of the city. It's pretty incredible and unique. You're walking past some pubs and malls and downtown places, then BAM!, the stadium just comes up on you like that. It dominates the city in a way that other stadiums I've been to don't.

Pardew's fault that we only got a point out of that. The first half was abject. Two months now of poor football.

Then Ben Arfa came on and the game changed.

Newcastle United fans are offering to pay compensation on behalf of a jobless supporter who painted on a wall at the club's stadium in a protest over its controversial name change. Unemployed barman Michael Atkinson, 30, was caught by police writing "St James" on Newcastle's newly renamed Sports Direct Arena at just before 2am on 17 February.

Conceding a goal right after you score and another one in the last minute is amateur stuff.

I wasn't even done celebrating Ben Arfa's goal when they equalised.

The first half was good, the second not so much. We need to play the ball on the ground.

Quoting from somewhere else:

My mate was at a corporate Q&A at St James, with Pardew, Llambias and the coaching team, tonight. Few little bits of interest:

Pardew said he's sick of answering questions from the press about Hatem. Said that no matter what he says, it's always printed with a negative spin. He swore on his son's life that he hasn't had a single bit of bother with him this season. In fact, he went as far as to say he's an absolute model professional. He always speak to Pardew, asking what he needs to do to improve. He also said that his stats are now where they need to be, and they're working with him to be more consistent in an attacking sense.

He was asked who he was most worried about leaving, and said, up until two weeks ago, it was Colo. Now, it's Tiote. Said that he won't leave unless they receive a stupidly big bid, or Cheik comes to him asking to leave. Which is what happened with Carroll. They're switched on this time, and won't let him go until a replacement is through the door.

Santon was signed as a right back, but is playing left back because they couldn't get one in on their terms. Says he has no doubts that he'll come good, even as a left back, but teams are now switched on to him cutting inside. Also said he could possibly see him emerging as a winger, like Bale.

Expects 2-3 major signings in the summer, along with a number of squad players. Named Ferguson as the player he is most excited about this season, and he'll have a part to play in the run in. Also said, of the academy prospects, Streete is his pick and he's gutted that he got injured.

Cisse, what a pick up. If Ba saying he wants to stay because Cisse was signed isn't enough, the guy has 5 goals in 6 games since coming over.

edit- level on points for fifth with Chelsea, five points behind Spurs for a CL spot.

Looking at the schedule are tough matches are at Chelsea, and hosting Liverpool and Arsenal Man City. while Chelsea host us, have to go to Arsenal and Liverpool, two-legs with Benfica in UCL, FA Cup semi and perhaps FA Cup final.

edit- thanks blund for the correction
