"When I drink water, I put syrup in it."
"Is that good for you?"
(Slight pause.) "I guess."
Awesome.

We ended up with Virgin Money instead of SD as I had heard elsewhere.
Anyway, second attempt:
Apparently Pardew is confident of getting two players in this January, and he doesn't expect anyone to leave unless mega money is offered. That's not really anything we didn't expect except the second signing. I would think that we were only looking at getting a CB, but hopefully we'll be able to sneak in an LB or an RB as well.
And now the more interesting bit: the club has four or five deals set up for the summer. All the deals are at a pretty advanced stage, and Pardew's confident that the squad will look pretty unrecognizable come August 2012 compared to what it was when we were promoted.
It sounds quite good and actually jives with the report that we made a 2m bid for this French midfielder playing for Dijon. Hopefully it comes true. It seems that our scouting setup is really working some magic.

But...he did this, so by Apisith's logic, he is a c\/nt who must be shunned. THERE'S NO ROOM FOR THIS IN MY TEAM!!!!!
What a hypocrite.
What an idiot you are.
Jesus Christ, can you not read? I actually posted in the Suarez thread multiple times that I'd love him in B&W, even if I hate his guts.
I'll be consistent if Ben Arfa pulls the same shit here. Got it?

We need a couple more players and we'll be in great shape for the second half of the season; hopefully a LB and a ST.

I'm just happy because our scouting team has been scouting him for two years, so they're obviously very confident. We went for him in the summer but Freiburg refused. The fact that we went back in again is a sign that we really want him. Our scouting team has a very good record - Cabaye, Tiote and Santon are prime examples of excellent players that we have bought very cheaply - and I trust them to continue unearthing bargains. For what it's worth, Cisse was valued at 12-14m in the summer. Freiburg are in trouble now so we've been able to do a deal for 8+2m.

In other news, Senegal took a step towards sending Ba and Cisse home a little earlier than expected by losing their opening match in the ACoN.

And now they've just lost to Equatorial Guinea (seriously? I mean, I know they're the hosts and everything, but... seriously?), so they've been eliminated and it's possible Ba and Cisse could (should?) both be back in the lineup for Blackburn.

You write this as if you are mad about how things developed.

And the ONE time you want Man Utd to win...
Good enough -- an inspired effort from Webb to grab the draw from the jaws of defeat.

With Cisse's arrival, I think Leon Best is now out for pretty much the rest of his career.Leon Best out six weeks, but Ryan Taylor should be fine

I'm all for Demba Ba, but IIRC, SholaGoals has never missed a penalty in his professional career- and he OWNS Sunderland. He earned the penalty, sure as hell shoulda taken it.

Never SFiC. Never.
Newcastle United fans are offering to pay compensation on behalf of a jobless supporter who painted on a wall at the club's stadium in a protest over its controversial name change. Unemployed barman Michael Atkinson, 30, was caught by police writing "St James" on Newcastle's newly renamed Sports Direct Arena at just before 2am on 17 February.

I wasn't even done celebrating Ben Arfa's goal when they equalised.
The first half was good, the second not so much. We need to play the ball on the ground.

My mate was at a corporate Q&A at St James, with Pardew, Llambias and the coaching team, tonight. Few little bits of interest:
Pardew said he's sick of answering questions from the press about Hatem. Said that no matter what he says, it's always printed with a negative spin. He swore on his son's life that he hasn't had a single bit of bother with him this season. In fact, he went as far as to say he's an absolute model professional. He always speak to Pardew, asking what he needs to do to improve. He also said that his stats are now where they need to be, and they're working with him to be more consistent in an attacking sense.
He was asked who he was most worried about leaving, and said, up until two weeks ago, it was Colo. Now, it's Tiote. Said that he won't leave unless they receive a stupidly big bid, or Cheik comes to him asking to leave. Which is what happened with Carroll. They're switched on this time, and won't let him go until a replacement is through the door.
Santon was signed as a right back, but is playing left back because they couldn't get one in on their terms. Says he has no doubts that he'll come good, even as a left back, but teams are now switched on to him cutting inside. Also said he could possibly see him emerging as a winger, like Bale.
Expects 2-3 major signings in the summer, along with a number of squad players. Named Ferguson as the player he is most excited about this season, and he'll have a part to play in the run in. Also said, of the academy prospects, Streete is his pick and he's gutted that he got injured.
