That's why I started rooting for the club to begin with. It all comes back to the beer.

With Marveaux out until the new year, Tiote and Obertan not fit, I could see us playing Ben Arfa RW and keeping the rest unchanged. So it'll be Krul; R Taylor, Coloccini, S Taylor, Simpson; Jonas, Cabaye, Guthrie, Ben Arfa; Ba, Best.

I don't know why the hell Blanc played Cabaye for 90 minutes on Tuesday. I hope he'll be good to go for 90 minutes because we're going to need someone with poise and composure on the ball to relieve the inevitable pressure.

Howay the lads.

Regardless of the scoreline, I'm pleased with the chances on goal Newcastle has had.

It would be nicer if they converted them however.

Well, when you spot CIty two penalties, chances are you'll lose.

They had chances to score, couldn't convert, and made three big mistakes. Frustrating, but we knew this was going to be a tough stretch. Thankfully they won their last two.

The mistakes killed them. Like you said, Newcastle had chances. They had opportunities to win the game.

Not to wander into your thread, but "opportunities to win the game" is I guess true, but City were far and away the better team today. Newcastle had no legs whatsoever in the last 20. Had it still been a game I can't imagine an outcome where City doesn't win. I'm also amazed that Ba was able to continue after milking 15 minutes of agony off of being stepped on for 5 seconds.

Fair play to your squad, though. Came to our place and put two up top. Wingers were really reserved to track the City fullbacks, but they sure put in a good shift, just never really possessed the ball enough to really stake a claim in the game, the only best case scenario almost happened with "something from nothing" on a counter or freak play, like where Kompany walked Ben Arfa into a break away.

Teddy, I don't think anyone is saying anything different. City was not only far and away the better side today, but you can tell there is a big difference in talent between those two sides. Newcastle had chances to score and didn't convert. And if you give a team like City two penalties, you are going to lose. Also, don't think I'm whining about those penalties either, the were both clearly the right calls. The second was well earned as well, off a terrific change of direction from Silva.

Yeah, I'm not claiming in the slightest that Newcastle are/were the better team. I just thought they showed some resilience against arguably the best side in the world right now. Eliminate the mistakes they made, convert a chance or two, and Newcastle might have gotten a point or three. Big, big 'ifs' though.

The scoreline doesnt reflect the chances created. Krul had one save to make all day and still ended up conceding three goals. It could easily have been 2-2 after 60 minutes.

Im proud of the boys. They're better than us but they certainly didn't batter us like everyone expected. Time to play those bitches at Old Trafford.

Yeah, they played as well as could be expected against an ubergalactic squad. Plenty of chances and they made ManC defend more than I expected.

If we get one point out of this 3 game set I'll be tap-dancing happy.

Krul was incredible today - the stop on Vidic's header was just a karmic reward for being in the right position all day long.

Simpson's clearance off the line was more than fortunate - it was heaven-sent.

Yes, considering at the start of the season we were expected to be rivals in similar terms of danger to Wigan and Blackburn, I'll definitely take it as a compliment.

Is there any goalkeeper in the Prem better than Krul right now? His current form is off the charts.

I think Ryan Taylor is just forgetting that he's not a right midfielder anymore.

Yeah, I'm a little disappointed they didn't bring in Santon. His size would have helped on Drogba's goal.

And the fact that Santon is 10 times the player Perch is. Perch didn't belong in the Championship, nevermind the Prem.

I'm so heated right now. My Chelsea fan girlfriend sitting right next to me isn't helping. If I'm able to restrain myself and not snap at her I'll consider it a major accomplishment.

I'm assuming "Chelsea fan" means she's posh. So don't snap--lay a guilt trip on her and see if you can get a Rover out of it or something.
