Thrilled to hear that his recovery is going so well.
Edit: Just wanted to add that the entire Cape League section is fantastic. Definitely more than worth a read. Great coverage of a great league; kudos to the Enterprise.

"ESPN baseball analyst Peter Gammons, who suffered a brain aneurysm on June 27, was sent home yesterday from a rehab center."

I miss his commentary on ESPN and remain acutely aware of how much interesting and credible information he provided about potential player transactions that has not been replaced by other reporters.

ESPN baseball analyst and longtime Globe baseball guru Peter Gammons continues to make considerable progress in his recovery from a brain aneurysm, said a friend of the family who had lunch with Gammons recently. Gammons is at his home on Cape Cod, continuing his rehab on an outpatient basis, but he's up and around, walking, talking, and getting stronger

Gammo back on the field.
Wow, that's great to hear. Sounds like he's still sharp as a tack. Fantastic news.

Great to see he is working his way back. Sure did miss him a few weeks ago!!
BTW, the bracelet very well could be his credential allowing him on the field.

"one of the luckiest people on earth"
"very, very fortunate"
Doesn't remember much from the first couple of weeks
The outpouring from his fans was very touching
Going back to the doctor September 15. No plans of returning yet.
Thank god for DirecTV
Red Sox aren't the same without Nixon and Varitek

Gammons says he is feeling "remarkably well"
"one of the luckiest people on earth"
"very, very fortunate"
I guess he means he didn't have to watch yesterday.

They just showed Gammo at the ballgame with JWH. Very nice to see him back around the ballpark.
The lone bright spot in a dismal weekend but, watching this trainwreck of a team can't be good for his rehab process.

Baseball highlights included PG relating that Boros stole Zito from Tellum by promising Zito a contract for at least 6 years at $16 million/per. He guesses Dodgers likely landing spot with Matsuzaka headed for Yanks. Schmidt wants to pitch in Northwest.

Matsuzaka to the wanks is another story. As discussed elsewhere, Matsuzaka is not a free agent, the way Godzilla was. He can only sign with the team that wins the silent auction, and you can bet the Sox, Mariners, Mets and probably a surprise team or two will be in on the action. The wanks can clearly afford the most, but it's no sure bet they'll win that auction. Unless the thing is rigged, of course...

When discussing the possible causes of the aneurysm, he says that "some of it may be generic", when I assume that he means to say "genetic". Also, when talking about a visit that he had with Pedro in the D.R., Gammo mentions how well the pitcher treated "small people". I think that he means "the little people" (Nelson de la Rosa notwithstanding). Later on, he’s talking about the overvaluations of NL pitchers from the ’04 free agent class (Clement, Pavano, Wright), and says that people get enamored with “stuff”, while overlooking… then stumbles around for a bit, trying to remember the term “makeup”, a sports cliché word which I have to assume that Gammo has used and heard roughly 4 billion times in his career.
I'm just wondering how the recovery period from this serious brain injury-type event will have an impact on his performance as an on-air commentator (not to mention as a writer). The Commish who Mistook his Wife for a Hat? I hope that it won’t be so.

I read a a while back (probably at least a year and I cannot find the reference) that Theo looks at players who devleoped well in other systems and then looks to see who was important in their development/evaluation. I expect them to be on the lookout for those coaches who have shown on field success.
Gammons raising the issue of where he thinks Hansen and Delcarmen might/should be during a love fest conversation on EEI really stood out to me.

Yikes. Boras has to be giddy. Seemingly, 4 of the top payroll teams will be in on Zito: Sox, Dodgers, Mets, and Yanks. And Zito is far & away the most valuable commodity on the pitching market this winter. Scotty won't even have to use his silly "secret bidder" gimmick. This might be a straight auction.
"$16 for 6 years from the man in pinstripes...do I hear $17? $17 from the man in blue..."

Ruster, I think you're nitpicking -- hearing things that we never would noticed if not for the fact we know he had an anyeurism.... I do a little TV and radio for my job, and I'm sure I have made dozens of generic/genetic type flubs
Yeah, Gammons was frequently criticized for run on sentences, name dropping, unclear tidbits, etc. Sounds like nothing has changed.
Glad to have you back Pete!
