No 33 TE prospect in the country Giacone switches from Rutgers to BC. Takes a bit of the sting away from the Grant switch.
Cool. Does this mean we might actually throw a ball to a TE this decade?

And with that addition, the class has lost 3 star DT Jaxon Hood - looks like hes going to stay in state.

Didn't care about losing Lynch, thought he was a product of weak competition. Giacone replaces Grant easily. Dudeck replaces Henry easily. Losing Hood is the big loss to me, The kid has a non stop motor, and will be a really good player

You didnt care about losing the only RB in the class? One of the few guys in the class (other than Grant) who had solid high major offers? He may have been a product of weak competition, although I have no idea how you would know that. Either way the loss of Lynch means that the program wont have a RB in their class two straight years and effectively have a huge hole on the depth chart.
Im also not sure that Dudeck replaces Henry. Henry presumably had some chance of playing corner - Dudeck doesn't seem to even have that chance. On the lower level guys, I would rather just take a chance on the most athletic of them, which is what Henry was.

It just seems like the RB situation is going to revert back to the situation we had when Montel and Harris were freshmen and the only viable RBs on the roster.
Posted 01 February 2012 - 01:27 PM
That's my concern. Here's what we have at RB:
Montel Harris: 1 year left
Andre Williams: 2 years left
Rolandan Finch: 2 years left
Tahj Kimble: 3 years left
That's it. Finch is a backup type and Kimble is a change of pace RB. If Andre Williams doesn't revert back to frosh form, we won't be looking very good at that position in 2013. We absolutely need a couple RB recruits in the 2013 class.

When the official commitments start coming into the football office this morning, there will not be much drama or hoopla.
A quiet football recruiting season at Boston College will produce no five-star or even four-star recruits.
Most of the recruiting services that rank these things no doubt will place the Eagles on the bottom of the Atlantic Coast Conference list, far behind Florida State, Miami, Clemson, and Virginia Tech, who dominate the top of the charts each year.
BC coach Frank Spaziani said he is working on a plan that involves getting “BC type’’ players.
Posted 01 February 2012 - 09:11 PM
A "BC type" player can now be defined as a kid with few to no other BCS offers who we settled for after we strike out on every priority target.

Rutgers: I am told that Boston College running backs coach Ben Sirmans will join the Rutgers' staff in the same capacity.
Temple: Sources tell me that Boston College wide receivers coach Ryan Day has accepted the offensive coordinator position at Temple.

This comes after Brock bolted to Rutgers and strength coach Loscalzo went to Washington State.

Look at the programs these guys are going to.....nothing great IMO. Spaz should be gone after this year unless he wins 8 games. The death watch starts in a couple of weeks.

Well 2 of the 3 are leaving to get significant promotions. So it isn't abou the program they are going to it is about the role they are going to get. Brock had been demoted all the way down to ST coach, so I am sure he would have taken most any chance to get back into an offensive position, and getting a coordinator role if a huge upgrade for him. Same is true of Day who simply was stagnant at BC. He didn't really produce anything on the field or in recruiting, so let him move on. Maybe Temple will let him run his beloved spread.
In terms of Sirmins that hasn't been confirmed yet, so we'll have to see if it happens, And if he gets something else in addition to RB coach, does he get recruiting coordinator, or assistant head coach, until something actually happens we'll wait to see. If he does leave for a lateral position then that would be odd.
I see it as an opportunity for BC in some ways, I think changes can be good, and this team Desperately needed changes in the staff. It will all depend on how they are able to replace these guys. I hope at least 2 of the 3 replacements are young guys preferably from the FCS level, and really I hope 2 of the 3 are African American
I think that all these guys leaving is the handwriting on the wall that the upcoming season, 19 starters back or what, fuck it we could have the entire Bama team coming back and with these two morons at the helm, its 3-9 at best
I dont blame Siamans or Day one bit, its self preservation time now, take the job with Adizao, and who knows, he moves up to a better program Day can either tag along or maybe take over at Temple
we are fucked

Mike- I think we both agree that these coaches had to go both for them and the program but I also think Moose is correct in stating essentially this is a lame duck coachiing staff. Spaz is a disaster as a HC and even GDF has to admit that he (Spaz) is not HC material and at 63, he is at the end of the line, considering when he got his shot, he farted. And now with only 16 recruits coming in, the fanbase that is either angry or apathetic, there is very little to attract an up and coming assistant. Everyone is talking about all these guys who were hurt and will be back. OK, I'll give you that but honestly how really good are these guys and will Montel be Montel or a shell of himself. When you lose a year, you lose a step generally and it takes 2 years to get your speed back. By then Montel will be in the pros, or at least be out of the BC program. I am not a pessimist by nature. But there isn't a lot to be excited about with this program right now.

http://www.bcinterru...-coaching-staffRivals.com is reporting that Boston College defensive line coach Jeff Comissiong has accepted the same position at Rutgers ($), and will be joining Ben Sirmans and Dave Brock in Piscataway. Comissiong is the fourth assistant coach to leave the program within the week, which, at least in my mind, answers the question of whether these guys were pushed out or left voluntarily.

This is embarrassing.

A couple things. On the only 16 recruits coming in. People use that as an example as though BC had 25 spots available. That wasn't the case, realistically The most BC could have taken this year without dropping guys from the 2 deep roster was 17 or maybe 18. Now admittedly the 16 inludes Stephan Daniels who still has work to do to qualify, but is as commitedly as they come if he can get in.

Wait what does this even mean? Including all the people that come in they are at 81 scholarships. That means there are 4 empties. The 2-deep is completely irrelevant to this discussion. You don't bank that number of scholarships in football - you need to keep guys coming into the program because injuries, transfers and departures are inevitable in football.
