It took 14 innings but the Blue Jays edged the White Sox 9-8 on a walkoff home run by Corey Patterson. Jose Bautista hit his 20th homer in the game as well.

Last night, the Indians doubled the score on the Jays 6-3. Brandon Morrow struggled with his control but still recorded 9 strikeouts while giving up 9 hits in 5 innings of work. Yunel Escobar homered and reached base 5 times while Jose bautista had 3 hits in the losing cause.

Starter Kyle Drabek never made it out of the first inning causing the bullpen to have to record 25 outs in Cleveland's 13-9 win iver Toronto on Wednesday. At one point in the game the Indians led 12-0. The only bright spot for the Jays yesterday was the announcement by MLB that Jay's outfielder Jose Bautista leads all AL vote getters in All Star balloting.

Starter Carlos Villanueva did not allow a hit until the fifth inning. That along with J.P. Arencibia's grand slam home run helped the Jays to an 8-4 win over Baltimore on Friday. The win moved the Jays one game over .500.

It just took one pitch for Ricky Romero to change a Blue Jay lead to an eventual loss as he gave up a fifth inning grand slam home run to Mark Reynolds, Baltimore won the game 5-3.

With the temperature in the mid-ninties, Brandon Morrow threw six innings allowing just two hits and left the game with a 2-1 lead. The Jays bullpen couldn't keep it. Mark Rzepczynski,in the game-changing seventh inning faced three batters, took the mound for all of 13 pitches, and threw one strike followed by 12 straight balls, the final four of which walked Hosner with the bases loaded to tie the game 2-2. The game went to extra innings and the Royals scored in the bottom of the 11th to take a 3-2 win.

Last night, the Blue Jays took a 5-4 lead into the top of the sixth inning. With two runners on, the Royals gave an intentional walk to the MLB leading home run hitter, Jose Bautista. The move backfired when the next hitter, Adam Lind hit a grand slam home run to give the Jays a 9-4 lead. The bullpen almost surrendered the lead in the eighth when they allowed the Royals to narrow the score to 9-8 which turned out to be the final score. The Jays record is now 32-30 and they are 3.5 games behindthe Sox.

This afternoon, Ricky Romero pitched a complete game allowing three runs on eight hits but it wasn't good enough as the Jays fell 3-2 to KC. The one bright spot on offence was Adam Lind who continued to swing a hot bat going 3 for 4.

To avoid making any Blue Jay supporters feeling any worse than they can possibly feel after the three game series with the Sox this weekend, let's just say 34-6. That says ut all.

That's funny, listening to the Blue Jays' radio feed of the Sunday game, they had talked with John Farrell, who was apparently absolutely adamant that Drabek had nothing to gain from being sent back to AAA. The announcers (PBP guy and Greg Zaun) went on to talk about how he just needed to learn to get guys out at the MLB level. So much for that idea.

On a night when baseball was far from the minds of most Boston sports fans due to the exploits of the Bruins, the Blue Jays downed the Orioles for the second straight game 4-1. Ricky Romero threw into the ninth inning fanning 12 Baltimore hitters. Adam Lind homered for the second consecutive game.

In an afternoon contest today before over 31,000 fans at the Rogers Centre, the Orioles edged the Blue Jays 4-3. Zach Stewart, called up from AA, got his first major league start and pitched seven strong innings. He left the game after seven with the score tied at two. The Orioles scored twice in the top of the ninth to take a 4-2 lead. Adam Lind responded with his third homer in his last three games to narrow the difference to one but that was all the Jays could muster.

On Sunday, the Jays attempt at a sweep fell by the wayside thanks to ex-Jay Miguel Cairo's two run homer in the bottom of the sixth. It overcame a 1-0 Jays lead and provided the 2-1 Reds victor.

It seems that Bautista's move to third base to sure up anemic offensive production there is just days away now.

After dropping the final game of their three game series against the Pirates by a 6-2 score, the Blue Jays returned home to begin a three game series against the Phillies. In a matinee contest on Canada Day before over 45,000 fans, the Jays lost 7-6. They took a one run lead into the ninth but a misplayed ball by outfielder Juan Rivera led to two runs being scored giving the Phillies their margin of victory.
I am leaving for Boston tomorrow to take in the Jays series and to participate in Nova Scotia Day at Fenway on Tuesday and will be away from my computer until next Friday.

Well being away I missed the Jays lose 2 out of three to the Sox. One of those games took place on Nova Scotia Night and ended on a controversial play at the plate which fortunately sent all 200 plus Nova Scotia Sox fans back to their hotel in a good mood. The Jays then went to Cleveland where they took 2 out of three.
Last night, the Jays jumped off to an 8-0 lead in the first inning off of Bartolo Colon and went on to massacre the Yankees 16-7.

http://www.thestar.c...t-lose-bautista

The win proved costly for the Jays as they have lost Jose Bautista for an undetermined amount of time with a badly sprained ankle. Did the injury begin when he slid into the wall in Arizona during the All Star game when he made an excellent sliding catch? After running to first last night and stepping on the bag, he came up limping and later after sliding into third, he had to be helped off the field.

Even without slugger Jose Bautista, the Jays offence was strong as was their pitching last night. The result was a 7-1 thumping of the New York Yankees. Brandon Morrow threw 6 2/3 strong innings to earn the win. The victory raised the Jays to .500.

After downing the Mariners 6-5 in a 14 inning marathon as a result of Davis stealing second and third then scoring on John MacDonald's sacrifice fly, the Jays left no doubt last night as they pounded out 14 hits on route to a 11-6 win over Seattle. Travis Snider led the attack with a homer and 5 RBI.

The day after the Jays suffered a loss to Baltimore they were involved in a massive trade that saw 14 players involved. Take a look at the Toronto press reaction to the deals. From the Toronto Star:
http://www.thestar.c...-14-player-deal
From the Toronto Sun:
http://www.torontosu...-tony--la-russa

The big piece for the Jays is obviously Colby Rasmus who for whatever reason had fallen out of favour with Tony Larussa.

Later yesterday, Ricky Romero went to the mound and threw 8 1/3, four hit shutout innings as the Jays went on to blank the Orioles 3-0. This brought the Jays back to a .500 level with a 52-52 record.

The Jays took the final game of their series with Baltimore by an 8 to 5 score on Thursday and the first game of their series with Texas on Friday by a 3-2 score. In last night's game the Jays fell 3-0 to the Rangers. Rookie Brad Mills had a strong start for the Jays but was outdueled by Texas starter Derek Holland who held the Jays to just four hits while tossing the complete game shutout.

In their first game of a series against Tampa Bay, Ricky Romero threw 8 innings of on hit ball on route to a 3-1 win. Romero did not allow a hit until the 6th inning. Jose Bautista hit his first home run in over a dozen games off David Price. The Rays had the tying runs on base in the ninth off of closer Rauch, but he was able to get Joyce to fly out to left to win the game. The Jays record is now 56 wins and 53 losses.

Jay`s call up converted Orioles pitcher and Surrey, BC native Adam Loewen. Look`s like they`re playing the Canada`s Team card hard these days, with the success and marketing of Brett Lawrie, selection of numerous Canadian players in the draft and this move.

With a dollar at or above par, and an economy not in the shitter - the Blue Jays are starting to turn that potential fan base of 35 million into the big-market it can be. A cynic might say that their ``Hometown Players`` are really from a few thousand miles away, but one might also say that emphasis on BC players like Lawrie and Loewen is a great way to expand the Jay`s brand across the country.
