I don't know who he is, but ND's pitcher actually looks alright too.Barnes looks legit.

...he throws hard in the strikezone.
Doesn't have good command, doesn't have much fastball movement, has one decent secondary pitch, the curve, but it's inconsistent.
Nick Blackburn with more velocity.
I know people are gonna dismiss the strikeouts on account of his "stuff" but if the guy can't strikeout a batter per inning in the Big East then there is something seriously wrong and now I understand why.
I mean, what's his K/9 gonna be when he hits AA?
5? 4?
If you can find me a good MLB starting pitcher who couldn't even strikeout a batter an inning in college I will send you a deep dish pizza in the mail.
I hope to God we don't take Barnes or Jungwomann.
Jed Bradley or George Springer.
If they're gone I will be happy with Swihart, Bell, Guerrieri, Mahtook, or Norris.

Barnes: 7.1IP1ER 2BB 8K
Good running movement on 4-seamer, good location. ND can't hit it, too overpowering. Keeps busting righties inside with it, and away to lefties. Started using it away to righties in the 6th.
Better movement on 2-seamer, inconsistent location, some really good some really bad, using it inside and out.
Good action on change up, three thrown to lefties,& three swinging strikes. It runs and sinks.
Curve is big, but lacks snap, 11-5 movement. Froze two righties down the middle for called strikes, but they won't chase it down and away for swinging strikes. Seems to be getting a better feel for it as the game goes on.
Average looking slider, but he only threw one.
Finished 6th at 100 pitches.
LFer brought back a HR in the 7th, but other than that the defense let him down. Gave up a tater on a FB down the middle in the 8th but he was well over 100 pitches, 117 to be exact.
Springer
Second AB: 1st pitch high pop up to second on a curve inside.
Third AB: Runner on second, 1 out, swinging strike high and away on FB, lays off wild pitch in the dirt, runner to third, lays off curve low and outside, lays off FB down and away, lays off another low and outside curve for ball 4.
Good job taking out SS to break up DP and allowed the run to score.
Fourth AB: Runner on third, 1 out, lays off high and away FB, goes way down and drives a low curve to deep center for a sac fly that tied the game. Unbalanced swing, but got good wood on it.

Does it matter who you throw a no-hitter against? A no-hitter is pretty special no matter who it's against. Can you make a post without separating each sentence into it's own paragraph? That is some jewcy stuff.
And I like how you made note of Meo's no-no coming against Radford.
Some guy posted on Sox Prospects that Meo threw a no-no!
It's important to let people know that it came against Radford so they don't get too excited.
My grandfather is a righty and he lost his right arm in the war; he could throw a no-no with either his left arm or his phantom right arm this second at 85 years-old against Radford.

5.1IP 1ER 2BB 8K
First thing that jumps out at you is the delivery, it’s silky smooth and effortless.
Most fastballs are 90-91, though a bunch were 94.
It’s hard to judge the movement from this angle but his curve looks flat at 77-80 mph.
I didn't see any change ups, but I didn't see every pitch.

Ummmm, yes, it does matter.
A no-no against an ACC/SEC/Cali team is significantly more impressive than a no-no against Radford.

I hope he gets shelled.
I wanted the same thing to happen.
That's annoying that his curve (slider?) looked flat.
I'm guessing it was an off day b/c BA says he has a plus slider and Nick Faleris says that it flashes plus.
I saw Duffy's MLB debut and his curve was really, really bad. Then it was much better in his 2nd outing. I'm hoping that's what happened with Bradley.

I thought that the main problem with Bradley was that he lacked a decent breaking pitch? Isn't he the lefty with a good fastball, command and a pretty good change up? Maybe I could be wrong...I wanted the same thing to happen.

BA: "His low 80s slider gives him a second plus pitch"
Nick Faleris (http://diamondscapescouting.com/): "Bradley's slide-piece is probably his third best offering right now, generally in the 79-81 mph range and capable of hard late sweeping action. Slapping a grade on the pitch is tricky, as it showed above-average, flashing plus, earlier in the season, but was decidedly fringy in his recent start at UIC. "
John Klima (baseballbeginnings.com): " SL 83-87 flashes hard bite."
Klima only gave his slider a 4/5 grade for some reason...below-average now, future average pitch
Orioles-Nation.com: "Bradley likes to attack right handed hitters with this pitch low and inside. His slider has a great deal of lateral and late sink movement that he keeps sharp, tight, and low in the zone. Sometimes it tends to sweep the zone, but overall his slider is a good pitch because of location. Hitters have a tough time adjusting based on its plane and the late movement; it can be a future out pitch for him. "

He was on the ESPN insider draft blog recently listed as "losing momentum".BA: "His low 80s slider gives him a second plus pitch"
Nick Faleris (http://diamondscapescouting.com/): "Bradley's slide-piece is probably his third best offering right now, generally in the 79-81 mph range and capable of hard late sweeping action. They go on to talk about how he might slide in the draft. It's good to know though that not everyone sees him the same way. Hopefully he slides like Law seems to expect.Bradley's last two starts (9.2 IP, 11 K) have produced better strikeout rates than the two before that (15 IP, 5 K) but the results haven't been any better. The left-hander has been inconsistent within the strike zone with his fastball and there have been fewer touching the mid-90s than earlier in the spring, which is devastating because his slider is a fringe offering at best.
Here's some more:
lack of an average breaking ball is raising questions about his long-term ceiling.
He hit 97 mph in preseason scrimmages and sits 89-94, coming from a high three-quarters slot with good extension and holding that velocity deep into games. He has an above-average changeup at 79-81 mph with good deception from his arm speed; his late release point helps here too. His slider, however, is comfortably below average, with several scouts who saw him in April calling it a grade-35 pitch; he has little feel for it and there's zero consistency. His arm slot looks conducive to a curveball, which I'd expect the team that drafts him to have him try.

Yeah the speed of the pitch confused me a little. It was coming in at 77-80 which made me think curve. Then the first scouting report I checked also said it was a curveball, Perfect Game's: http://www.perfectga...px?article=5642 . But you're right, it is a slider, and for a slider its movement was much better than if it was a curve. I think once he starts throwing it harder, which he will learn to do, it will become a much better pitch.I wanted the same thing to happen.
That's annoying that his curve (slider?) looked flat.
Also PG just came out with a good scouting report on Howard you might be interested in: http://www.perfectga...px?article=5708 .

Sorry Sprowl.
I'm hoping that Bradley's slider has just been "off" as of late and that he will eventually figure it out.
Maybe turn it into a bigger, slower curve AND add velo and get a cutter going a la Lester...go 2 for 1.
Thanks for the scouting report, phragle. Howard sounds really good and he has decent mechanics too. PG put a lot of thought into that. Wow.

You guys are right.
Jungmann has cleaned up his mechanics some.
His stock is way up in my mind as he has proven that he can be tremendously effective with a new delivery and he shown the ability to make adjustments (some guys respond very poorly to mechanical changes -- both pitchers and hitters).
Good personality too. Should interview well.

Beede will be at least a top five pick in 2014. Get it done, Amiel.
It's ridiculous how well rounded a pitcher Beede is. Nothing not to like.
Put the kid in Cali or the Dirrty South and people would be talking about him being a top 20 lock in this loaded draft class.
Geographical bias is stupid.

Asked if Bell's last at-bat -- where he blasted a pitch over the 25-foot wall in centerfield, over the fence near the flagpole at the 400-foot mark -- was impressive, Epstein quipped: "If you like home runs to straight-away center field....

"San Diego's top brass have been seen at a lot of Connecticut games recently, which fits the thought that they're looking for a college arm (Barnes) or bat (outfielder George Springer)."
"Scouting director Bobby Heck has taken up-the-middle players Jason Castro, Jio Mier and Delino DeShields Jr. with his three first-round picks with Houston, but would he take another (Lindor) with Mier and Roy Oswalt trade acquisition Jonathan Villar already in the system?"
"After including Alcides Escobar in the Zack Greinke trade, Milwaukee needs a shortstop, and Lindor would provide fine value with the No. 12 selection."
"After loading up on hitters in the 2010 draft, Atlanta could seek some balance with pitchers this time around."
None of this mental masturbation is going on in these teams' heads.
They all go BPA.
Stop bringing up other players as a reason to draft/not draft a guy.
This isn't the NFL.

Also nice, interesting mock. you're right it's a fools errand, but at least yours it isn't all cookie cutter.
Have any numbers came out of Beedes camp yet? I hear he has a strong commitment to Vandy.
I like him too, but I think a lot hinges on how much he is going to ask for.I've said it already, but if the Sox draft Bell then the rest of the draft will be nothing but gravy. Having said that, it seems like there is always a player I get a prospect hard-on for and we skip over him and instead take someone no one is really mentioning. My fear is that we'll skip over Bell and draft Kolten Wong, but I pray that doesn't happen.
If the Sox do end up drafting Bell then look for pick 26 to be a close to slot player.

Thanks! Much appreciated.Hey Alskor, I checked out your site, it's pretty awesome. Great video of Beede too.
Beede was a pleasure to watch. Makings of 3 above average (at least) pitches. Better present stuff than many college friday night starters I saw this year. Nasty, nasty CU. CB was better than I had expected, too. FB had some nice late life you can see in a few of the clips. low 90's, maxed out at 95. Mechanics pretty free and easy. Arm action long in the back but it never seemed to interfere with his timing. Repeats his delivery really well for a high schooler. Secondaries same arm slot and speed as FB, which is just unfair to high school hitters. Definitely some projection left there, too. I would not at all be surprised to see him add a couple ticks. Really impressive.
He did lose his release point in the 2nd for a while. I think he was trying to bump up his heater for the radar guns. Started flying open a little early. His dad (who is his pitching coach) came out and straightened him out and he recovered nicely. I'll have a full write up on the site next week. Still working on all the video I got from Louisville-UConn... but I rushed ahead and did the Beede video.
Golden Greek - I'd be pretty surprised to see Beede go that early. Its going to be very expensive to buy him out of school.
I really love Bell and agree with the consensus in these parts. Its getting to the point I'd be pretty disappointed if we don't land him. I'm not sure he's all that far behind the top talents, tools wise.

Yeah I was going to guess 1.8 - 2 milBruce Seid has a relationship with the Beede's, and slot at 15 is $1.5M. I haven't heard anything on how much he's asking for, but the connection, being drafted well ahead of projected, and ~$2M should get it done, especially considering that by the next time he's eligible for the draft, there will be mandatory hard slotting.

@conorglassey Heard that Dallas Jesuit OF Josh Bell sent a letter to the Scouting Bureau saying he doesn't want to sign & wants to go to Texas #mlbdraft
From BA's write-up:
Bell is a good student whose mother is a college professor and who will be advised by the Boras Corp., so it may cost a team dearly to pry him away from a Texas scholarship.
I don't know that he's worth Westmoreland money.
