These are the images in Nip's link...
I'm pulling for the bottom left quadrant, personally. The darker red for the stitching just looks better to me.

So, do these submissions mean that we'd have a gigantic picture at the top of the board? Are the pictures under the logos what is supposed to go onto the back of possible t-shirts?

No not at all. Sorry, should have clarified. Everything is in a concept stage at this point - and semi rough (sorry for the unbalanced bat's - good catch OJ). I just used the photos as a way to present these ideas. If anyone has any questions about the directions fire them away. I just had a lot of ideas and wanted to get some out for discussion. I was just having fun with the taglines, those could probably use some further development as well.
And yes, currently working on a few "SoSH" only versions to avoid any long-term issues.

I'm guessing your longer story has to deal with using Sam's likeness. However, just after seeing those new options and before seeing your post, I wondered if we wanted to move towards using only the abbreviation anyway. While the original name does have its own quirky charm, the abbreviation seems more appropriate if we are trying to "professionalize" the logo/image.The only issue is we have to be "SoSH". Long story

Both of these are great. I think the texture on these looks better than the smooth, CGI look of the first two.
Great things to work with here as well for a secondary logo. Particularly like the baseball bats diamond at top right and the diamond with small 97 banner at middle-right.
Just an overall great job. While I thought some of the earlier ideas could also work, this collection is professionally created graphic design with developed themes.

Might there not be a problem with TSW's estate if SoSh started using his image? If you put the "baseball/bullshit" logo with the pic of Teddy hitting, you have a winner.

If we can't use Sons of Sam Horn, then I like the diamond sosh w/ pennant and the sosh with the pitch location dots. I don't like the bats as much because it looks too much like the fenway park hat that is out there with the crossed bats and just about every frat guy hat I have seen (co-ed naked lacrosse etc). It is too bad about the Sons of with the two bats because i like that one the best. It is really clean, readable, translates well to collateral items (letterhead/websites/t shirts etc)

I'm sure there are a ton of licensing issues with those photos. I don't own them nor am I the 80 year old photographer that took them. I found them on the Internet. The logo will stand alone as a graphic, I just though we could all use a little Red Sox nostalgia in our day.
As for logos, secondary logos and collateral items that have been mentioned. Anything can be done. And will be, if wanted. The overall visual identity system for SoSH will be as well-rounded as TSW's swing.

Maybe it's me on a rainy day but they all look like frowning SoSH faces.

I take exception to the others not being professionally designed. LOL.Both of these are great. I think the texture on these looks better than the smooth, CGI look of the first two.

I like Nip's idea of using the circle one as an icon type of logo. If it can be reduced enough to not lose resolution then maybe even as the graphic that is used in front the URL for further branding. (Does that graphic have a name?)
I would suggest that the background be lighten up a bit. Are we thinking color or just gradients of gray? I think a lighter or even transparent background would be sharper and reproduce better.
Nip said we had to use the letters "SoSH" which implied that we couldn't use the words "Sons of Sam Horn." I was thinking of combining the SoSH font from the circle one into the one with the bats. (I realize I am only a step above TRic in graphicology.)

I love "Baseball. Stuff."

Thanks for the comments. I always appreciate being pulled from the rabbit hole that I tend to fall into a lot. Thanks for all the kind remarks about the designs. I appreciate the feedback. I'm working on more options taking into consideration everyone's input, but IMO design by committee usually yields bad results. To prevent any awkward situations down the road, please PM me suggestions rather than send your own designs using elements of my work. The internet is a big scary place, and the integrity of my work is important to me and something I need to be sensitive about as a designer. I'm looking to post more polished samples when I have them ready.

They're still trying get an app that works on all 7 Android platforms, and the multiple UIs in use.
