I got the updates of that swirl one and didn't like them. Too Comic Sans. It'll be two business days for em to update again.

I have been thinking along these lines. Perhaps someone who can draw or do calligraphy can render it a lot better. I left room on the right for any additional text.

Ok, I ve played with initial concept some more. I am at a point where I ve played with every little detail to the point of not being sure if I am making improvements or not so this is as close to a final proposal I can get.

And if you like the old tagline, this is it:

It took a while. Making the esses a bit more curved night eliminate that thought.

Thanks to Otto for the idea.

These are all pretty mediocre. This is all stuff I would come up with in Photoshop and I suck. Surely there is one good graphic designer on SoSH.

EDIT: Except the goetse one. That one is fantastic.

Edit: As for the four originals, all look like variations on a deflating balloon theme in which the air is escaping while making a "Sosh" sound.

I know the "pros" are working on it - but couldn't help myself & sketched out an idea over lunch. The operative word is "sketch" - it's just a direction a real logo could take. Posted Image

Yeah, this one doesn't suck as a concept. I'm a sucker for this type of "logo within a logo" stuff.

(No offense to some of the other posters who have sketched ideas, of course-- I certainly couldn't do any better).

I agree on ditching the tagline. Well, it can stay somewhere on the main page, it just looks tacky as part of the logo. Imagine it on letterhead-- awful, right?

Conceptually I think we've maxed these lovely Indians out. The second last one kind of works for me with a little touch up. Don't get me wrong, it's not great but it kind of reminds me of an updated version of the old one (which too, sucked, but some continuity feels right)

So the original consensus was this type of design wa the direction to go in. Having to pick from the option above which do people prefer? And yes, I understand some people will not like it, but whatever we just need something up there we can use.

But none of those even hint that this is about sports or baseball specifically. They look like logos for a shitty talk show. :( None of them will translate well at all to collateral materials such as letterheads, t shirts, hats or whatever if there's ever a time that SoSH offers such things. In short, it doesn't MEAN anything.

I know they're not perfect but we need something other than plain text up there. People seemed to favor this one at the outset so we just rolled with it. If it's not perfect we can replace it later

I fucking hate the font and the hackneyed, forced baseball but seeing this is first and foremost a discussion forum it kinda works

Ok i like this one then, but can we get subtle red stitching on the baseball?

I like that one but i'd lose the khaki color and replace it with something else, and perhaps make the S in SoSH look more like a baseball because it is already very round. or maybe put stitching on it to convey the idea of a baseball. I also think the font can be less wonky because the H looks an H and a C somehow.

If you are set on one that looks like a teat, at least use phrenile's http://sonsofsamhorn...ost__p__3363116

For whatever it is worth, I prefer the SoSH bat and ball, especially with the brown replaced.

I put the bat/ball version up (and thanks for the endorsements!) - just wanted to be clear that it was a quick idea/sketch. It would definitely need some refinements to actually work on the top of the page.

ed. which would be awesome, btw.

That logo is cool conceptually but can you smooth it out? It has to be clean and crisp, otherwise it looks like someone drew it and scanned it in and, most importantly, doesn't print well (the problem with SoSHLogo v1)

This is the hard part with taking user submissions , asking for multiple edits :).

What about incorporating this idea into the framework of a classic/vintage baseball pennant?

That would create a defined border/shape to the logo and lend an air of baseball history.

these are some examples of old school pennants where we might find inspiration:

I was thinking that the bat handle could be a little wider and the barrel narrower and straighter, like this:

What about incorporating spike's pennant idea and flipping the bat around, but keeping the letters the same. That way it fits well on a pennant and the big S is at the barrel of the bat.

So we have a bat, a ball, the name of the website and a pennant? Seems a bit much when you consider the most iconic logos are dead simple.

What about a glove-and-ball motif that can be used as a standalone logo, in a pennant and in a banner?
