Since it is no longer 2010, I'll just skip the 2010 part and say it's the 2011 St. Louis Cardinals Offseason Thread. The Cardinals announced the signings of Miguel Batista and Ian Snell to Minor League deals, giving the Cardinals depth in the rotation in case Lohse is hurt(again). Batista will likely make the roster as a long reliever.

Pujols has given the Cardinals until the start of Spring Training to sign him to an extension. If the Cardinals and Pujols are unable to agree to an extension, the negotiating between the two sides will happen after the season since Pujols has said that he will not sign or negotiate a contract during the season.

Carpenter leaves the mound with a strained hammy, and Mitchell Boggs follows with a lower back strain.
I didn't think it was possible for a team other than the Pirates to be mathematically eliminated from the post season on March 1.
