In all of the playoff games this weekend the best defense won. No difference today. Defense wins playoffs games. It was always a problem with this team.
Well until tonight the best QB won also.

Give us an hour and a half.
Congrats Berry.
I hope the Steelers beat the shit out of your guys next week.

Braylon Edwards...backflips, really?
rooting for the torn ACL there.

If the Patriots just kicked the ball deep, they likely would have gotten the ball back with 1:10 or so left. Unbelievably idiotic move.
Along with getting their butts physically kicked all over the field today, they were out coached. Ouch.

Go Packers!!I'm buying a cheesehead this week.
Jeez, this sure sucked...I can't stand either of the AFC teams moving on...I am SOOOO disappointed...

fake punt in this game= not kicking the 48 yarder in the super bowl
Yes, it's a highly questionable decision that was about the 7th reason the team lost.

They haven't really played a tough game in three weeks.
I blame the Colts and Lugo.

Ryan is 3-2 against the Patriots.
What a crap-fest. Huge disappointment.

So, how's the draft thread looking?
So 17, 28, and 33?

Bill was outcoached in a big playoff game again. Not a good trend.
#2327
Posted 16 January 2011 - 07:51 PM
Agreed. And they've won four road playoff games. Meanwhile the Pats have lost two straight playoff games at home.I'm a big time Sanchez hater, and say what you will, but he's going to his second straight AFC CG in as many years in the league.

I personally think they layoff hurt these guys badly.
They haven't really played a tough game in three weeks.
I blame the Colts and Lugo.
Nah, I dont think so. 2 HUGE fuckups, 1 by Brady on the Int and 1 by Crumpler dropping a simple TD hurt them more than anything.....well except the inexplicable fake punt fuckup of course...

MH, they won 3 superbowls in 4 years. That's a bit ridiculous. The Patriots have officially become the Atlanta Braves. The regular season means squat.

Posted 16 January 2011 - 07:53 PM
I can't wait for next season to start and the media still announcing that "ZOMG BRADY HASNT LOST AT HOME IN 28 STARTS!" and "HE HASNT THROWN DA INTERCEPTIONS IN 4383242 PASS ATTEMPTS"!
If I see them mention that once I'm going to vomit everywhere.
What I'm really looking forward to are the conversations about how Brady's playoff career is a tale of two halves.

I blame the Colts and Lugo.
And Wideman.
Call it poor sportsmanship, un-Patriot like and whatever else, but I wouldn't have been disappointed at all if somebody clocked Edwards mid back flip.

This is very dissappointing, but the Pats still had a better year than I thought they would and they're only going to improve. Great gameplan by Ryan, although I still have absolutely no idea what was wrong with Brady. He had deer in headlights look for 75% of the game.
I don't really care who wins the AFC game next week, my hope is for the Packers. If the Jets win they will have certainly deserved it, though.

I have a feeling we're going to find something out about Brady today because he didn't seem right. Or maybe we'll never find out.
Anyway - here's to the Packers crushing the Steelers.

Might as well throw out all the hyperbole now, rather than gradually over the next 7 months.

More like Brady not getting far enough and losing 2 straight PO games at home.
Nice moronic comment though.

Sanchez now has the most road playoff wins for a QB in NFL history.
He's tied with Flacco at 4 I believe.

Almost even in rushing (113 v. 121).
Time of Possession edge: 35 min to 25 min.
26 first downs to 14.
Better special teams: punt avg 47.0 to 36.0; punt returns: 2 for 42 v. 2 for 4; 2-2 fg v. 0-1 fg.
Reasons for the loss (IMO):
(1) Big Mistakes:
- Brady INT on their opening drive as they were marching for a TD. (loss of 3-7 points)
- Crumpler's dropped TD pass on their 2nd drive that led to a FG instead. (loss of 4 points)
- Horrible fake punt attempt, leading to the Jets' TD to put them up 14-3 before the half. (loss of 7 points)
That's 14-17 points right there that the Pats cost themselves due to big mistakes.
(2) Horrible coaching decisions:
- The fake punt. Just punt it away, hold, and go into halftime down 7-3 with the ball to start the 2nd half. Instead, they try something very unorthodox and it comes back to bite them in a big way.
- The poor clock management on their long drive in the 4th quarter. Anyone who suggests that it was a good idea to huddle up and walk to the line, as the seconds and minutes tick away, is crazy. No problem with running the ball, but you *HAVE* to hurry it up.
- On 3rd and 10 from the Jet 18, I think they should have kicked the FG right there. You needed two scores and enough time to hold the Jets down. They get the FG, they have 3 timeouts plus the two minute warning, down 7. You kick away, use one TO before the 2-minute warning, get the 2-minute warning itself, and the 2nd timeout with about 1:55 to go. You get the ball back at your own, say, 35-40, with 1:40 and one timeout to go. That's doable. Not easy, but doable.
(3) Field position:
- Average Pats' starting position: NE 28
- Average Jets' starting position: NYJ 44
Jets had 3 TD drives that started inside NE territory.

You don't know too many Bears fans. If I have to hear another fucking word about the 1985 Bears and how it was the greatestest team ever but also hear them talk about how they don't live in the past and whatnot I'm going to murder 10 Bears fans. They suck so much especially because many exemplify all of the Superfans stereotypes but are completely serious. My friend tried to argue that Peanut Tillman was a better player than Randy Moss because in a Vikings-Bears game Tillman intercepted a pass intended to Moss in the endzone at the end of the game. And he was dead serious. Mongoloids.Well go Green Bay or Bears, Pittsburgh and the Jets have way too many douchbags.

So 17, 28, and 33?
So, if they get all these great draft picks, go 16-0, beat the Jets 80-0 in both games, and have to meet the Browns in the first game of the playoffs, I will still be wondering about Brady.
It's great to be there every year, but it's wearing thin, these disappointing play off losses. It's going to be about 365 days to feel better about this game. I guess it's the price of being a fan of a team with a very high performance bar.

People are going to question Belichick benching Welker on the opening drive (amongst a hundred other things).
Also, as good as he was the last 3/4 of the season, Bill O'Brien may have lost his job. You could see Belichick screaming for a pass when they kept running (the clock) late in the game.
