Looks like Jeremy Hermida's signing with the Reds on a minor league deal.
Taylor Buchholz, briefly the Sox' property after a waiver claim until he was non-tendered, signs with the Mets on a one-year, $600,000 contract.
And the Rays are reportedly evaluating Manny Delcarmen.

For what it's worth, he won't be the first to play for five AL East teams: David Wells (Detroit, Toronto, NYY, Baltimore, and Boston), though by the time Wells played for Boston, Detroit had moved divisions and Tampa Bay had been added. If Green does make an appearance with the O's during the season, he'll be the first player in MLB history to play for all five teams in the AL East.

Well, I have to go with Mays... Hey... Say.

This is my favorite part:
If you had to be one of the Ninja Turtles, which one would you be? Why?
Um. God, I don't know. Leonardo is the blue guy. Donatello. Raphael, and... what's the other guy?
Michaelangelo.
Donatello is the one with the stick? He's the smart one. The older one is Raphael with the three-prong sword or knife. Leonardo is the dude with the swords. Who's the orange dude?
Michaelangelo.
You know what? I'm gonna go with Raphael. He's a rebel. He likes to do his own thing. He really cares about his family but he wants to be his own individual. And he's probably the most talented out of the four.
Also, I wonder what Pedroia would have to say about this:
Who was your weirdest teammate?
Obviously I'm gonna say Manny Ramirez. What's funny about him, if Manny likes something, he'll take that one line and say it throughout the day. Like I'll say "It's gonna be a laser show today, get your goggles on," and then he'll just keep saying [Crisp starts using really thick Dominican accent] "Everbody put goggles on. It's going to be laser show."
Was Coco the one to originate the "laser-show" phrase, or did he steal that from Pedroia? Or does it pre-date both of them?

Coco Crisp is very funny
or maybe very dumb
I'm going with the latter
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- A's outfielder Coco Crisp was arrested by Scottsdale police on suspicion of DUI late Tuesday night, Comcast SportsNet has learned through a source.
Crisp was driving a 2009 Rolls Royce Phantom Drop Head Coupe, according to the source.

Nationals right-hander Cla Meredith had Tommy John surgery in Washington on Wednesday. Dr. Wiemi Douoguih performed the procedure.
Meredith started having elbow problems about two weeks ago while throwing his first bullpen session of the spring. He was hoping that the pain was caused by scar tissue breaking up inside the elbow.
Meredith signed a Minor League deal with the Nationals last month. He was competing for a spot in the bullpen. Last season, Meredith played for the Orioles and allowed nine runs over 15 innings.

Adrian Beltrestill getting rubbed the wrong way
Fantastic.
From the article:
"Sometimes I thought about killing him," Beltre said. "But I thought about it. ... I have a family so I didn't."

Derek Lowe picked up the win for the Braves yesterday going 5 2/3 allowing no runs on 3 hits, walked 2 and struckout 6 on 105 pitches. Picked up 7 groundballs against 3 flyballs.
Games not over but Bill Hall's made about a half dozen plays at second for the Astros today, started a nice double play and made a running, well jogging, catch in right. 0 for 4 with a sac fly. Like to see Hall have a good season, maybe get traded into a playoff race around the deadline.

The Marlins honored Mike Lowell in a pregame ceremony.
Lowell, who played for the Marlins from 1999-2005 before they traded him to Boston, where he retired after last season, threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
The Marlins honored Lowell with a video tribute and presented him with a commemorative brick, which will be placed in the concourse of the new ballpark.

Sometimes it seems to me that giving that "closer of the future" tag to a young guy is one of the worst things you can do to a player.

Pirates release Craig Hansen.

He never lived up to his hype, but this release has nothing to do with what you're talking about. He has a rare nerve injury.

Yeah I read the article I linked to. Kind of a sidetrack but I've just being watching Drew Storen implode lately and the issue has been on my mind. Anecdotally, it seems like most good closers begin as starters, but the guys tagged as closers from the outset crash and burn.
