This shit is stupid. Anybody who thinks that "winning the MVP = losing the Super Bowl" also believes that wearing "that shirt" or sitting on "that side of the couch" has an impact on the game's outcome. Superstition is bullshit.

(Not pickin' on you dynomite, just the whole meme)

Well, there are two memes here that look similar. One of them is: "Who gives a fuck about the MVP?"

I think all tonight did was make it so if we lost our last 2 and Jets lost to Chicago, Pats get in because they are a game better. If Pats lost tonight and lost their last 2, Jets lost to Chicago and won their final game, I think Jets won tiebreak by division record.

Sooo....yeah didnt do much.

For you to be picking on me I would have to have claimed, implied or in any way suggested that winning the MVP award somehow made you more or less likely to win the Super Bowl, so no, I'm not offended.

My general point is that, as I am not Tom Brady nor related to Tom Brady, I couldn't give a flying fuck whether he -- or anyone else -- wins the MVP award or not this year.

Edit:

Well, there are two memes here that look similar. One of them is: "Who gives a fuck about the MVP?"

Well everybody, if you're just joining this geamthread, to recap; Austin Collie left the field today with another concussion. This young man just worked his way back into the line-up after a previous concussion 5 weeks ago. Our thoughts and prayers are with Austin Collie and his family, as this legendary NFL receiver bravely struggles to battle back, and faces an uncertain future. You really have to feel for Austin, who by all accounts is a terrific team-mate on the field and role model off of it. We certainly hope that he makes the correct decision with his family and medical staff going forward.

Again, Autsin Collie left the field today with another concussion.

Oh, that is true. So I guess it did have minor implications.

I just hope we're all debating about how the Pats should approach the Miami game about 4:15 next Sunday.

Jets and Pats both slated to play at 1 next week. My guess is that the Jets game gets flexed to a later time.

I don't really care about the MVP award all that much and truth be told. One could easily make the case that Vick is just as (if not more than) valuable to Philly as Brady is to the Patriots. Truth is, Brady came very close to throwing at least two if not three picks tonight.

More importantly though, we saw the defense hold when it had to. Like '01, you just have to be good enough. Let's hope good enough is better than '07...

Oh yeah, and while I don't wish Brandon Meriweather any bodily harm, his tackle of McCourty probably gave the Packers a TD. Someone should tell him to hit opposing players that hard.

It's nice to have a QB who is perfect and a RB who hasn't fumbled since the womb.

This is borderline sig-worthy.

Great W, and an exciting game. FWIW, though, this line looks a little odd:

Penalties (Number-Yards) 2 - 15
Penalties (Number-Yards) 7 - 52
...and of course "yards" doesn't include "overturning the game-ending INT."

Were the Pats really 3x+ more egregiously in violation of the rules than the Pack? Unless "whiffing on tackles" is flag-worthy, it didn't really look that way to me...

And if Brandon Meriweather didn't tackle Devin McCourty after a 10 yard completion to Jones.

The only thing missing are the accusations that Flynn couldn't hear the final play being called in because the Patriots, Russian spies, and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange were transmitting Christmas songs in to the helmet. It's coming though.

Always enjoy the Trent Dilfer Pats Sploogefests.

Had to laugh when he called McCarthy "McCartney". First time I gave him the benefit of the doubt, but he repeated it a minute later. Speaking of McCarthy, he brought in a great gameplan, but he doesn't sound that bright speaking and he had a shaky explanation of the time wasting messup at the end. He said they had to see whether the 3rd down play had produced a first down or not. If it did not, they would have thrown into the end zone on the next play. If they had gotten the first down, they would have clocked the ball. Well, they were a full yard short after the third down play. He, or his OC couldn't see that? That's 36 inches, aka three feet, a yardstick, half the height of his quarterback. That should be a piece of cake to see from the sideline. Also, the refs spotted the ball right away, as I recall. Can't blame them for it. Speaking of his QB, why didn't Flynn throw a quick "we're this much short" message to the bench by spreading his hands a yard apart? Rookie oversight? All in all, a delicious clock wasting event, maybe the best I can recall in a game against the Patriots.

Woodhead could pass for a 21 year old Eric Burdon.

I keep coming back to that Connelly run back. What a great play, and huge props to Patriot special teamers -- especially Sergio Brown -- for getting downfield and blocking all the way. Brown's block sprung Connelly for another 25 yards probably.

There was a blatant block in the back at the end of the play, by Morris at about the 15. At the 37 second mark and again at 1:07 of this clip. Right in front of the ref, too, but he was probably so shocked by what he was seeing that he missed it.

Is it a block in the back when the person being blocked just turns around and has the entire play at his backside? I thought the rule was only if the play had gone past them. He kind of just turned around in a weird way before he got pushed.
