Mike Wright's concussion must have been pretty bad for him to have been out this long. It's kind of amazing that the absence of a player who was having a fantastic year has been largely unnoticed.

Well it's better than the Austin Collie "he's fine CONCUSSION no he's fine this time CONCUSSION" treatment.

Would it kill Costas or any other hack interviewer to just once ask Woodson or any other Raider from that team if they recall that they could have stopped the Pats on any of the next 18 plays or so after that one?

Love to see Woodson to this day bitch about it. Glad he thinks they would have beat the Rams that year as well.

Also, that was the last game I ever saw at Foxboro.

Win today, and with the Steelers loss Pats will be one step closer to a HFA throughout the playoffs.

Make it happen!

Or someone could bring up the fact that Woodson hits Brady in the head on that play which should have resulted in a roughing the passer penalty.

That game was almost a decade ago. Time to get over it.

Edit: Just did a quick overview of the current Pats roster. 63% of the active players were still in high school at the time of that game, and 4 were in middle school. Revenge!

This this this. A fucking million times THIS. Striking a QB in the head is 15 yards and Patriots ball, fuck the Tuck Rule.

I'n not sure that was a rule in 2001. Didn't Vrabel clobber Warner on the head on Ty Law's Pick 6 in the Super Bowl?

It was a different game back then. This would almost certainly be a penalty now:

90% of the plays in that Rams Superbowl would be a penalty now. I'm pretty sure Tebucky Jones was using a knife at one point.

So on the pregame they talk to the commish and the first question is about Farvre. Do they actually think we give a shit? And when asked about concussions he's like "it happens in other sports too."

Am I just a cranky bastard or is everyone in the world a fucking dipshit?

What happened to Randy Moss since he left New England? Are opposing defenses game planning to focus on shutting him down, is he not showing any effort, or have his skills eroded to the point where he has been ineffective?

Goodell's response to Costas's point that the NFL has a lot more concussions that other North American sports was:

(1) Concussions happen in other sports, and in daily life, and
(2) The NFL's concussion problem is in some way (he wasn't precise) helping the US Military to treat concussions for its soldiers.

WTF?

Jonathan Kraft ripping on the Jets on the radio pregame.

"Mr. Westhoff should focus on his own team and not comment on ours...that's offensive to me."

And something about Ryan thinking he's such a good coach who watches a lot of film, so he must be aware of what Alosi was up to.

A little earlier he pointed out Brady's consecutive 100+% passer rating record and jabbed at "quarterbacks who play in domes, including one that everyone has canonized."

Good stuff.

I've said this for a while, for me Goodell is way, way out of his league in the commissioner's job . One not-that-important but still very visible source of this feeling is how consistently he does poorly when he gets a question he isn't 100% able to respond to with a pre-prepared answer

No. The Pats need to win 1 of the remaining two, if they win tonight, to wrap up home field.

No. If they lose the final two and the Jets win the final two, I believe they lose the tiebreaker for the division.

(Stares blankly at the camera)...."Why are you asking me? What's wrong wit you?" then they send it down to Costas.
