Since losing to Mangini and Co. the Patriots have gone on a nationwide killing spree. A modern day Trail of Tears, if you will, as New England has forced their will upon, uprooted and left for dead many in the NFL over the last month.

This week shall be no different.

I like the map in concept, but strictly speaking the trail has not actually gone through Indy or NYC and doesn't continue to Green Bay as those are all home games. I guess the images of Peyton, Ryan, and the cheese guy could be moved over Foxboro? In any event, it was a nice effort. Here's hoping they make swiss cheese out of the Packers faces.

Please also remind those idiots up in Wisconsin that by 2025 the trophy for winning the Super Bowl will be renamed after Hoodie Bill.

Am I a psycho for wanting Rodgers healthy and active this week? I'll take every edge you can get when fighting for HFA, but this D could be well-served being challenged by another top-5 QB than going up against Matt Flynn in Foxboro.

They've seen a lot of top QBs already. I have no interest in having the defense get some practice reps in against Aaron Rodgers.

Give me Rodgers. If the Patriots and Packers meet in the Super Bowl, I want BB to already have seen Rodgers once.

Plus, the Pats will pound the shit out of the Pack regardless.

This is kind of how I see it. The defense has looked great the last two games, but it's also against Sanchez and Cutler in a blizzard. Rodgers provides another good litmus test for whether the recent improvement on D is legit and is the last chance to test its mettle against the level of QB play they'll see in the playoffs. Maybe I'm just overly confident right now in this team and see them as heavily favored even with Rodgers in there.

Of course, if Flynn ends up playing and getting hammered, I won't be too upset about it.

Yea, but why on earth would they want to give a team another shot at finding new ways to exploit the defense?

And the last time Belichick met a QB in the superbowl that he had seen once before late in the season, well, it didn't really help, did it?

Actually, it did. Eli sucked in that Super Bowl and only generated 17 points for the Giants, 7 of which were the result of that BS play. In the previous matchup, he destroyed the Pats' defense.

Incorrect: The map accurately tracks the path of the central locus of the tears--the sorrow in the wake of the devastation meted out by the Patriots--not the team itself.

It's a good map, don't get me wrong. I think it was just the intro that threw me: "...the Patriots have gone on a nationwide killing spree. A modern day Trail of Tears, if you will ..." Such killing sprees don't typically involve several of the victims traveling to the killer's home. And it's kind of hard to leave a trail where you haven't been. But that's not important. The killing of the Packers is what's important.

I'm not sure if it's a modern day Trail of Tears. Said event was the forced migration of 50,000 Native Americans from their homelands in the 1830's to Oklahoma, many dying from starvation and disease along the way. I might compare it more to coming into someone's terrirory and humiliating and embarassing them in the name of justice and righteousness, perhaps like the allied invasion of Germany in WWII. With the T of T metaphor, the Pats are more like the Nazis, instituting a national governmental genocidal policy, and that's just not Brady and the boys imho.

Practice squadder Tony Carter (CB) in. Possibly McCourty not playing tomorrow night. Per Mike Reiss:

With Carter set to be promoted, could be tied to rookie CB Devin McCourty (rib) possibly not playing.

I don't buy it either. If we have a letdown game I think it is more likely against Buffalo. Hopefully by then we will have wrapped up HFA so it won't matter. I and by more likely I mean something like 2% is greater than 1%. I think the Pats easily go 3-0.

We can't wrap up HFA by next week. We're probably going ot have to win one of the Buffalo/Miami games to clinch.

NFL Today says McCourty is probable, Branch is playing, and Hernandez is game-time decision.

The Patriots need to win this big and clinch HFA. Then they need to go out and stink up the joint in Buffalo so that BB can tear them a new one and they can go into the playoffs humble and hungry.
