BC's lucky to be in the weak sauce ACC. This team in The Big East goes 12-20, not 20-12.

I'd kill to go to Dayton at this point. We're out. Big East fans get to enjoy some schadenfreude.

man, it'd be tough to see VT go to the dance after we beat them twice this year

needed a good showing today and just didn't have it. Very typical for BC, but I can't say enough good things about what Donahue did. Even that Harvard loss looks less bad in retrospect, given how good they ended up being. LIke where the program is headed.

If you had told me at the beginning of the season that this team would end up with 20 wins, I would have told you that you were crazy. Regardless of the loss to Yale, they still have played WAY above their talent level. Congrats to Coach Donahue and his boys on a fine seeason. I hope this continues and I think it will be great when he gets his own recruits in to play.

But I have to tell you, I REALLY dont miss that damned flex offense from years gone by.

Assuming they are in the NIT (No one's Interested Tournament), I do wonder who they draw in the First Round.....would be interesting if they played Tennessee at BC since Bruce Pearl is a BC grad, and was approached, even if it was publicity stunt, by GDF for the HC job last year. Think Pearl has second thoughts about saying No after what is about to happen to his program from the NCAA?? That program is about to get a major ass kicking.

Well there's that and the fact that the BE football conference is an abomination but I agree BC is extremely lucky that they were able to join the ACC.

Oh wait ... Was that not your point?

BC fans need to stop wasting their breath that they're glad they left the Big East for the ACC. No one believes it.

Except for everybody that goes/went to the school. I hate that we no longer have the storied rivalries with West Virginia and Rutgers. Pains my heart.

This is literally the stupidest topic. But how the hell is the BE going to continue as a football conference? Theyre worse than the WAC

Uh oh BigMike is going to get mad at me because I started the BE/ACC debate. Thing is there is no debate. Other than those who have a nostalgic pang for MSG in March there is no debate. Even without the benefit of hindsight (which further exemplifies the point -- see TCU) I don't know many supporters or alums under the age of 100 that aren't thrilled with the move.

Take a look at the ACC football contract just signed and the issues that the PAC10 is having even with Oregon and USC. Oh and look at what's happened to Providence in the new megaconference.

Who was BC's rival in the BigEast? Nonissue.

Big East fans are so cute sometimes. The only thing that BC grads/fans miss, and it literally is the only thing, is the Big East Tournament. There is no doubt that it's the best conference tournament in the land. As for the rest of it, no, we don't miss it. I always hear from Big East fans about BC not having a rival. Of course, we never had a rival in the Big East but why facts get in the way of a stupid argument. More importantly, what are the real rivalries in the Big East? There's only 1 - Pittsburgh and West Virginia.

The only real rivalry game when we were in the Big East was against Notre Dame, a school which isn't even in the Big East but gets "friends with benefits" privileges because the Big East is so desperate for any kind of relevancy in football. The Big East is full of historically mediocre programs - the ACC is fully of better programs that have been mediocre lately. There's a difference.

I thik its an interesting topic one day after an incredible BE tourney just wrapped up. 8 years ago is this really where BC fans thought they would be in 2011? On the basketball court and gridiron there has been nothing gained by making the move. Nothing. BC has gone assbackwards in hoops and rather stagnant in football. And ACC football is a shell of what the BC thought they were getting. Mock BE football all you want but ACC football is right there in ineptitude.

So, had BC stayed in the Big East would Al Skinner have suddenly given a shit about recruiting? Would they not have had the Jags saga? The recent undoings of BC football and basketball (if you even want to call it that) have both been coaching related issues. Al Skinner gave up on the basketball program. He stopped recruiting, kept running out the same tired flex offense knowing it was souring recruits on the school, and eventually BC had no choice but to make the move and fire him. The basketball program looks to be in very good hands moving forward, but I think it would be reasonable to expect a step back next season given that they'll have, at most, six returning players. That recruiting gap falls solely on the shoulders of Skinner and his coaching staff and has nothing to do with the move to the ACC.

BC is in a conference that it can confidently say will continue to exist in both a football and basketball capacity for the foreseeable future. What other areas of the country will the Big EAST have to reach out to next to continue to prop up its dying football program? Are we that far away from a California team playing for them?

Youk ... Please stop. First of all your facts are wrong. In football BC has been one game away from the ACC championship game twice since joining the ACC and has two superstar players in the NFL and another who will be a top 15 draft pick in April. In basketball BC has had the second most players of the year next to Duke since joining the conference and have made the tourney 3 times.

Even if your facts were accurate you are making my point. Even though the football conference has been down they are financially secure given the great media deals and the fact that all revenue is shared equally (which is not the case in the NBE). This is reason that the deal was done.

That's not even discussing the success of non revenue sports since the move, most notably the mens and women soccer teams.

Castonzo will be a first round pick. Top 15 may be a little optimistic but most mocks I've seen have him going around 20.

They could have been closer than V Tech. They had a much better RPI and a much better SOS then V Tech. They also beat V Tech twice. I guess we will never know for sure.

edit: I take it back on the RP, I thought V Tech had a higher RPI than 60.

Mcneese St! LOLOL. Expect a crowd on 80 in Conte.

At least you can't blame GDF for conspiring to get in Harvard/VT1/VT2 in exchange for not going to the NCAA.

nm, what a f'in joke. #1 seed, on the road in podunk Louisiana, because of possible attendance concerns at an 8000 person arena in the #6 TV market.

If the school doesn't give a crap about the game, why should anybody else care??? The season is over. BC is using this as practice and experience for the younger guys to play in one and done games. I am sure they fear that no one would go to the game is a reason they passed on it. Let's just let this season die and get ready for Spring Football, the Frozen Four and Next Basketball season.
