This feels decidedly like the game against Denver last year.
a 20 point loss feels like a 3 point loss in OT?

They were playing football, not tennis. That gatorade bath tells you a lot about this game. They're acting like this was a championship match.

no-show against a not very good team in an away game.

After an embarrassment like this, I would say the chances of losing to both Indy and Pitt are near zero. Unless of course Bill drills the DBs into apoplexy this week.Pathetic today. Worst part is at this time in two weeks, could easily be 6-4. Really could have used this game.

On one level this is just rationalization, but this game had "young team on the road" written all over it. If they were going to have one of these, better against Cleveland than Pittsburgh.
I don't agree. They could play really well and still lose to Pit or Indy. You have to win the games against the lesser teams in the league. Cleveland is improving, but they're still a lesser team. The Pats need to win these games.
Key play of the game: Gronk's fumble at the end of the 1st half. They score there, they're down 17-14 with the ball in the 2nd half. I think they win the game in that situation. Gronk had a pretty horrible game today. Oh well...he's a rookie.

Houston has an abysmal defense but Rivers is absolutely tearing them a new one with a cast of no names. But, they actually have the size and speed to make plays downfield and they are absolutely doing just that.

That was sickening
Worst game by the Pats in a very long time. At least losing to the Ravens in the playoffs was to a very high caliber team. This was a total beatdown by a subpar team. Ugh.

We're wrecking Pittsburgh next week.
What on earth makes you think that?

Meh, even the best teams have a shitstorm or two in the course of a season. The sky is not falling. Young 'uns taking a step back after two or three steps forward. They'll be ready for Pittsburgh.

About 10 years of Patriots history in weeks after terrible losses. Last year against New Orleans and Miami in back to back weeks notwithstanding.

I'm on board. BB will tear them a new one this week in practice. I call for an early win prediction against Steelers.

Fumble or not, they played poorly on both sides of the ball, and let Cleveland walk all over them. If they played this carelessly and still won, the Pittsburgh game would have been a train wreck. Not so now. Who knows if they win, but at least they should be thinking out there - which wasn't the case today.

While we're at the height of the bitchfest, can we get rid of this "BB is going to kill so-and-so in practice next week" meme? Unless Belichick can magically transform some of these guys into more athletic and talented players through a pep talk, I don't get why people say this like it's some Midas Touch.
Gronk is plenty athletic enough. So is Woodhead. This was a mental loss as much as anything with the mistakes and dropped balls. No two ways about it here.

It seems apropos to remember this after a horrible loss like this...a pathetic, uninspired performance, but to extrapolate too much from this, after what we've seen this year in the NFL, is just too pessimistic. I still say the team splits Pitt/Indy, and instead of being 8–2, they're 7-3, and still in first or tied for first with the Jets in the AFC east going into Thanksgiving.

I have never seen this team look so utterly unprepared to play a professional football game. Their effort was completely lacking and the results showed it. Multiple stupid, boneheaded mistakes, asinine turnovers, and an awful performance from both the quarterback and the defense as a whole.Gronk is plenty athletic enough. So is Woodhead. This was a mental loss as much as anything with the mistakes and dropped balls. No two ways about it here.
I am pretty fucking disgusted by this performance today.

There's an old Polish or Russian joke about Slavic pessimism that runs: a ship with various European travelers hits an iceberg, and starts taking on water. The Slavs begin to jump over the side. The captain says "wait, what are you doing? there are enough lifeboats for everyone!" To which one of the jumpers responds, "You can't fool us--there's no way those lodki (little boats) are seaworthy!"

Just as we shouldn't get too high that this team, with obvious flaws, went 6-1, we shouldn't get too low when they deliver a stinkbomb (which this certainly was). This is a good, not great, team. Hopefully they don't have too many more of these though.

The Patriots with a young defense, on the road, against an opponent with an axe to grind. Yeah, not too shocking. That said, it will be almost impossible for them to play worse next week.

i don't understand when brady throws to a receiver there all double covered it seems but when an opposing qb throws on the patriots you know the receiver is going to be wide open by 5 to 10 feet..all season i couldn't understand why a team would even run 1 run play when you can throw the whole game to an always wide opened reciever.

Well, we lost it today, at least, so maybe that's what he means. I'm done trying to predict this team, we are not exempt from the parity-fest of this season, and I don't think anyone ever thought we were. They're a good, but not elite team that can show up or not any given game.

I don't know if Belichick will rip anyone a new one (as a side note, I agree that this response from fans is tired and gives ammo to the trolls in this forum including Berry and Yammer) but the outcome of this game is not really that surprising.

Cheers to Seoul for a good five game run, the last four of which were great great fun. Here's to a new five(or more)-game winning streak.

Anywho, this was a DOGSHIT performance. The Pats made critical mistakes the entire game, from the botched kickoff return to the Gronkowski fumble to the 67 dropped passes, and they had no continuity. Mistakes were made on seemingly every series, and it killed them. The Browns thoroughly outplayed the Pats, and it wasn't close.
Just a bad, bad game for this team. But, um, yeah, kissing the division goodbye is fucking moronic. My God, have you guys followed the NFL before? I really think some of you are too unstable to handle it.
Here are the big points, IMO:
- Pats defense was GASHED. After a game where they did a pretty good job containing one of the best rushing attacks in the NFL, they laid an egg. The front seven was ABUSED, and if you're wondering why there were huge seams in the back end all game look no further than the run defense. It's pretty easy to pass the ball when you're averaging like 6 yards a carry.
- Mistakes. Big ones. The game really got away from the Pats after the Gronkowski fumble. They made lots of them, but that stood out to me.
Basically, the Browns dictated the pace of the game and never let the Pats back in it after the Gronk fumble. I was pretty impressed with them, despite my frustration with the Pats.

Yeah, one would have thought that having done a decent job with AP and the Vikes, they had figured out the run defense, but today was embarrassing. This other, less-evil Peyton had the game of his life, no? Edit: not only a career day for him, but it is the first 100 yard rushed they have allowed all year. So...I say this was more anomaly than indicative of future success or failure...
Still, the Gronk fumble would have made it possible I think for them to win a game they didn't deserve to win...we have already had one of those this year, so it's hard to feel unlucky for that. The team just looked...hexed...some guys looking hungover or zombified, others dropping everything they saw, Brady looking flummoxed (his mechanics seemed way off, to these untrained eyes)...
(I blame Mankins! He's ruined team chemistry!)

You're a troll SB. Enjoy Jets win today but you're a troll.
P.S. Funny your troll % gets higher with a Jets win, and crawls back in a deep dark cave with a loss like last week. Yup, definition of a Troll. That's with a capital T.
To be fair, Berry doesn't hide when his team is doing poorly. And its not his fault the Patriots sucked rancid zombie ass today.

Yeah.. Shelterdog is fucking fantastic. He's brings a ton of commentary that is consistently wrong every week since the decade started. Hooray.
