The season is too long until it ends. Then it was too short.

Stale, deoxygenated, dirty, dead 2010 water.

I'm sure gonna miss gamethreading with y'all.

Pitchers and Catchers 2/13/11. I can't wait.

<Giamatti snip>

best not to copy the entire essay...

my fault. then i'll do the link and the first graph:

http://mason.gmu.edu...z/giamatti.html

It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops. Today, October 2, a Sunday of rain and broken branches and leaf-clogged drains and slick streets, it stopped, and summer was gone.

Really enjoyed game threading with you guys this year. It makes the good games better and the bad games a bit more bearable (and god knows there was enough of them). Until next year!

Nice of Paps to keep it interesting to the end - but great crappy dirty water anyway. Nice ending to a crappy season which ended too soon, but kudos to the guys who kept showing up anyway.

I watched the game -- on and off -- on Al Yankezerra. No mention of where Victor was. Did Don and Jerry shed any light on that?

If they did make reference to him, it went by me. But he was in the dugout. In fact, they showed Papi's little boy on Victor's lap early in the game. They just interviewed Victor on NESN - as before, he was noncommittal saying "it wasn't up to him" whether or not he was returning.

I didn't find anything unusual about Martinez sitting. Tek was getting the ceremonial sendoff, the score was fairly well in hand.

22 days til the C's, but as much as I love them, there is absolutely nothing like Red Sox baseball. It is a sad day indeed.

It was a pleasure hanging with you all this season. Stick around for the C's game threads (those need to be more lively).

Hopefully the Patriots can get their act together and keep me interested for a while. I feel like this offseason is going to drag miserably (even more than others do).

Tito did say something about that, I think it amounted to that they didn't want Victor catching at all, but they felt like they needed to keep him available to catch in case something happened after Tek came out, because Cash hurt something, I think his hand, last night.

Screw all the media complaining about how they hated this season and are grateful it is finally over. Only twice in my life have I been happy to have the season end. We don't have meaningful baseball until April now. That sucks.

We'll see about that in April, buddy. I still think it's Scutaro at SS for Opening Day.
