I simply cannot comprehend the mystical logic of scheduling a two-game series. Next year they'll play six of them.

That one of them is also a two-game homestand is nothing short of mind-numbing.

Inter-league schedule is pretty nice--

Home---Cubs, Milwaukee, San Diego
Away--Pittsburgh, Philly, Houston

They have one off day from April 26 through June 1, and chances are they'll have to make up a rainout in there somewhere too. I hope the bullpen is set and the starters are healthy during that stretch.

Interleague slates for the rest of the AL East (all 3-game sets):

RAYS
Home - Cardinals, Reds, Marlins
Away - Brewers, Astros, Marlins

YANKEES
Home - Mets, Rockies, Brewers
Away - Cubs, Reds, Mets

ORIOLES
Home - Reds, Cardinals, Nationals
Away - Nationals, Pirates, Braves

BLUE JAYS
Home - Astros, Phillies, Pirates
Away - Reds, Braves, Cardinals

Once again, the Sox' primary foes (NYY, TBR) both get 6 games against traditional rivals doormats.

Only one trip to Anaheim and Oakland and San Diego at home? It will be a lousy season for us West Coasters.

On the Red Sox site they have the time as TBD. I mean won't it be an afternoon game?

Road trip: PNC Park, PNC Park, PNC Park.

It is just unfortunate that we couldn't piggy back a Pirate game with a trip to the new CONSOL Energy Center and a Penguins game. Not even the NHL can draw the season out until June.

I've been trying to explain to family and friends that the Steelers fan base and the Red Sox fan base have a lot of similarities in terms of passion, identification and commitment to the team. This will be a chance for them to experience it first hand. The scalpers are going to go crazy that weekend. Book your hotel now.

Sunday is an afternoon game, to make it easy for everyone to catch all three games ;)

It is a beautiful Park and you can get peirogies and beer.

Someone who is currently living in town, needs to start harassing the Front Office for group tickets. All of my connections in the city are long gone.

I'm thinking of doing the Pitt-Philly roadtrip.

That is very intriguing. PNC is awesome and heard Citizens Bank is too fro ma buddy of mine that went there this year. I might have to look into doing a trip that covers part of both series.

Edit: Don't know what I was thinking about. No weekends in Baltimore. Thanks Kate for setting me straight.

How is it that the schedule doesn't have the Sox @ Fenway South on a weekend?

My niece from Charlotte, NC is planning a family reunion in NoCal next spring (just shoot me!) and my attendance will be required. Would it be rude if I suggested she plan the event for the weekend before or after the Sox are in Oakland? :)

We're all over the series in Pittsburgh.

Looks like Bash options are:

7/9 VS Balt
7/23 VS Seattle
8/27 VS Oak

I can't believe we're already thinking about 2011.

Just to get folks thinking of Pittsburgh as more than the Steel Curtain.

Here are some ideas: Pittsburgh Zoo, Andy Warhol Museum,Carnegie Museum of Art,Carnegie Science Center,Duquesne Incline

We'll get those that are currently living in Pittsburgh to start kicking in ideas for restaurants and bars. There are some great neighborhoods to visit in Pittsburgh. In that way it is similar to Boston, as you've got neighborhoods with their own character/restaurants/bars to check out.

BSL - work on the April dates for the NoCal trip. I'm up for the trip to Oakland - lousy ballpark but there are added benefits of visiting Oakland/Berkeley/Napa.

I was thinking of the Pgh/Philly back to back visits as well. I can't believe that Monday is an off-day in between the two series. It's only @ 4 hour drive between the two cities.

There's a 99% chance I am there for 2, if not all 3 of the Pittsburgh games.

I'd be down for getting a group together for the April 21-24 @LAA series.

West coasters getting screwed indeed. 6 games in total for the year, and all in April?

do you think for a minute MLB would schedule Sox-yanks on a Friday and let it be a day game? Not a chance.

Make that 9 total. There's a 3-game set at Seattle in August.

Might as well be to three different countries. Anaheim is 400 miles from Oakland. Seattle is 800 miles from Oakland. That's OK, the Sox normally come out here to die anyway.

Sucks for the West Coast folks but that's a good break for the Sox....only 3 games out West after April and not until August when the M's will be deflated and done.

Also no Trop until mid-June....interesting.

The wife happily mentioned that our plans for next April school vacation looked better after the schedule came out. We were looking to so southern Cally, and then it turns out the Sox will be at LAAA during the break, and the Pads and Dodgers also will be at home.

Hopefully we can solidify the plans for the trip out there.

I did this triple stadium hit in June, itís a fun one. No Sox for me though, but three parks that are all very different in feel and game presentation.

There should be a trip to Primanti Brothers on the strip for one of those overwhelming sammiches.

Manny Sanguillen's BBQ at PNC Park is a good deal for ballpark food.

Primanti's is way overrated; Uncle Sam's Subs and Smallman St Deli are vastly superior sandwich places. Primanti's has the fries+coleslaw on the sandwich gimmick, but the sandwiches are only decent. Orient Kitchen in Shadyside is absolutely superb Hong Kong food (just make sure you ask for the Hong Kong menu or you'll get decent American chinese food).

East Carson St. merits a pub crawl, or just wander the Strip which is closer to the park (it's got a cool market by day, lots of clubs/bars at night, and the aforementioned Smallman St Deli as well as Primanti's if you insist).

Ok, I'm heading over to the BASH Forum to start the Pittsburgh Bash thread. I don't want to lose the great suggestions for restaurants and pub crawl. SumnerH has some great suggestions and others have already thrown out suggestions. Plus someone can retrieve some of the great suggestions in the thread that NufCed started for her trip to Pittsburgh this summer. There were some great restaurant suggestions and activities suggested in that thread.

Seeing the Strip District on Saturday morning is a great recommendation, and there are some solid restaurant suggestions as well. The Strip District will be within walking distance for those that are staying at hotels close to PNC.

The suggestion for the Church Beer Works is interesting and new since my days in Pittsburgh but it is a bit of a drive from PNC, so it would have to be Saturday afternoon option.

Now Orient Kitchen is an old time favorite. Oh right, off to the Bash Forum to capture some of this stuff.

Make those hotel reservations now!

My brother-in-law is having a destination wedding on 6/24 and guests are going to a 5-day/4-night stay (1st day is 6/23). Fortunately we get back right before the Sox come to Philly. <Jneen/45 smiley>
