I can't get over how young some of these kids are, Lars says it was super exciting coming back like that.

This is the first time the Sox have ever fielded someone younger than me. Except it's actually four someones. Funny year.

Ryan Kalish was born on March 28, 1988.

Three months later, Wakefield was drafted by the Pirates.

Just got back from the game. My first experience in the Monster seats was fucking awesome. Beltre's, Papi's, and Scutaro's second were all within 10 feet of me. I wouldn't say that they're the best seats in Fenway, but they might just be the most fun. Especially on a day when the Sox hit 5 homers and win.

I'd like to see the video again, but like I said it looked to me that Patterson didn't really take off for home until Victor was halfway to third, and when he started going Bartlett threw home.

Just for the record, Patterson did stick around near the bag until Zobrist (not Bartlett) saw Victor almost two-thirds of the way to third, at which point he ran at Patterson, who took off for home (presumably thinking he should get in a rundown to get Ortiz to second). Victor shouldn't have taken off, but once he did, Patterson acted correctly until he left the bag after the tag, which Bogar should have told him not to do. So blame Bogar.

If you have mlb.tv, Remy breaks it down at about 2:33.

Really great comeback from 0-4 - figured they'd fold after that - and gutsy performance by Wakefield. Despite the obvious warts, there has really been a lot to like about this team's grittiness this year, IMO.

If you want to play "fun with Wake's age" how about this one:

Tim Wakefield DoB - August 2, 1966
Tim Bogar DoB - October 28, 1966

Yep, Wake is actually almost 3 monts OLDER than one of his current coaches...

Between that and there being about 6 guys on the team now that could 'easily' be his kids (I figure anyone born after he was 20 could 'easily' be his kids) Tim must be feeling very old these days...and yet he just beat one of the best teams in baseball...

It still has me beat. I was born in july of 88. I love seeing these young kids live the dream that all of us had at one time or another growing up!

Megathread?

Why not? They call it playing out the string for a reason.
