I'm moving to NYC on the 15th. Well, that's when I start the drive from San Diego-NYC. My best friend, who lives in New York, bought us tickets to go see the 9/24 game as a "Welcome to New York" sort of deal. He's a huge MFY fan.I'm getting married on 9/25, and the little lady and I bought 16 tix for the game on 9/25 for our family and friends to join us. Was hoping we'd see a game that had some playoff implications...instead my guests will be seeing the PawSox it seems. Oh well!
After this game, I'm not sure I want to go anymore.

They should have just kept the nothing until the game was over, then put on a rerun of that stupid trivia quiz show instead of a post-game show.NESN just died of embarrassment, apparently

Is it a bad sign when you come close to losing the season series with every other team in your division?
We kicked the NL's ass in interleague, proving that we would have won the World Series.
It's a damn shame that we won't get the chance.

Has the bullpen passed Cleveland yet for most HR allowed yet?
As mentioned, they already lead the entire league in HRs allowed. Next in the line is the D-backs and they're considering using a humidor next year. Maybe they should get one in Fenway too!

More zeros put up by an opposing bullpen. This season can't end soon enough.
Didn't it end about two weeks ago?

"Mr. Henry/Theo, your prospects do not appear ready to step in for 2011. Adrian Beltre and Victor Martinez are free agents. David Ortiz could be let go. Kevin Youkilis is coming off a major hand injury. The Free Agent market does not appear to be a good match for your potential needs. Should the fans be prepared for another transition year?"

I want to see Lugo get drilled.
Yes I'm bitter. So?
Maybe you should change your name to AimingForLugo.
Hitting Lugo would be beating a dead horse.

Not if they want that sell out streak to continuePaging a Boston reporter with a clue.

It's hard to win games like that, especially with suspect middle relief.

With Scutaro reduced to a black hole by injuries the Sox have basically reverted to "highly injured" mode where they are hard pressed to score more than 3 runs a game.
It's hard to win games like that, especially with suspect middle relief.
If you're making a comment about Scutaro's offense that's OK, but his defense has been consistently poor since opening day.

Why do I feel like the golden years of boston sports is in a downward spiral!!!
We need a good decade of hardship... it will make us all appreciate it more if it happens again.

I'm starting to think we might see a 2006-style total September meltdown coming on. The Orioles are way, way better than they were earlier in the year, the White Sox just vastly improved their offense, and we have lots of games left with NYY and Tampa, plus a West Coast trip. The bullpen still sucks, the offense is dead and half the lineup is going to be out for the rest of the season.
We could lose a LOT of games this last month.
Ouch. I really wish you hadn't posted this. Sometimes ignorance is, well, better than thinking about 2006.

I was about to say this just shows how much better TB and NY are than the Sox, but the Orioles are 0-12 vs. Toronto....yikes.
They are 35 games under .500, but only 10 games under .500 outside the AL East.

That wouldn't necessarily be the worst thing in the world, higher draft picks are good.I'm starting to think we might see a 2006-style total September meltdown coming on. I agree with Gray Eagle. I think September is going to be an unbelievably ugly month for this team.

AmalieBenjamin: Full disclosure: Beckett left the clubhouse without speaking after the game. Can't remember the last time a Sox starter did that. Not good.

As I remember, Oki did the same after a poor performance. I always enjoy it when a player stiffs the media, many of whom deserve it.And what's the big deal about Beckett leaving without speaking? He's pissed off and frustrated.
Of course the media is frustrated -- they feel entitled to a share in the pain, like the old Saturday Night Live talk show host who didn't get his jollies until he had reduced the guest to tears.

And for all the injury issues and the bullpen struggles and all the stuff we've been talking about all year long, what you just posted above is just about the difference in the AL East race. Give Boston an 11-2 record against Baltimore and we're very, very much in the race.
