We have five all star caliber starting pitchers. They're going to lead us to the playoffs. Starting today.

Lackey earns his paycheck tonight. We fucking win, and hope will once again be restored throughout Red Sox Nation.

Why do I think this title means Lackey is going to need TJ surgury after the game?

I heard a story one time.

It was called the 1951 Giants.

And the 1969 Mets.

And the 1995 Mariners.

And the 2007 Rockies.

And the 2004 Red Sox.

Here's the weird part. They all start the same way: "Today, we played a baseball game."

Tonight, we play a baseball game. Make it a good one.

Yesterday, I thought that a loss would be the end of the season. That may well be the case. But this team has exceeded my expectations this season already. The amount of shit these men have plowed through, to be within 6 games of a playoff berth, is astonishing.

Keep astonishing me, and I'll be watching.

So, fuck James Shields in his Big Game asshole. Fuck it loud.

I don't think better words have ever been spoken.

And while we're at it, fuck you Dan Johnson. Who the hell do you think you are? Welcome to the lead pipe list, you're right up there with Catalanotto and all of the goddamn Aybars.

Lackey is going to go on a run here which is going to solidify his false reputation as a big game pitcher. 8 innings, 3 ER and we pound the shit out of Shields.

Lets fucking do this.

Sonofabitch. If Fox won't have us why will they? I'd rather try to find a stream from somewhere else so I can actually hear the game.

Sack up Lackey. Make me not want you dead for once.

Using the phrase "must win" in August usually sounds dumb. Still, it's hard to see a single game on August 29 as being any more pivotal after the Sox squandered a golden opportunity to cut into Tampa's WC lead. Overtaking them after going down 6.5 with only one more head to head series? Not bloody likely.

Pretend Tampa is an AL West team, Mr. Lackey.

Navarro over Lowrie: Lowrie is ailing?
Navarro over Hall: they figure the RH breaking pitch will cause 3 strikeouts and a DP
Navarro - they don't know how to pitch to him.

Nope, one example to counter that is Casey Kotchman's bout with the same illness in 2006(basically missed the entire seasons). But yeah, really would prefer Lowrie in there today if at all possible.

Either Scutaro wants to play every day no matter what and is using some form of naked picture leverage to ensure that happens, or Scutaro desperately wants a break and Tito is using some form of naked picture leverage to keep him on the field.

Also, Jed Lowrie isn't going anywhere you assholes. He's the Opening Day 2011 shortstop.

So I open the mlb.com page, turn to the Yankee game, there's 1 out Juan Pierre AB. I'm reading the lineup and see that Konerko was PR run for, hoping for a tie. I forgive Tito for whatever "mistakes" he has committed. I know he would not do that.

Edit: His spot does not come up against Mo, but still...

Hey, I'd like to initiate a class-action lawsuit on behalf of Red Sox fans Nation-wide against Theo for the mental anguish caused by his failure to  get another arm or two for the 'pen. Are you interested? (Gotta be pro bono, but you'd get at least 50% of any settlement, yes?)

In the meantime, I would personally appreciate the Red Sox winning this game tonight. TIA.
