RMPS Adopt a Prospect - Thoughts?
#1
Posted 22 July 2010 - 11:36 AM
Here is what I was thinking. We use this thread as a signup for different prospects in the Bruins system and to come up with any ideas or suggestions. Then whenever people want, they start a separate individual thread for their prospect. That thread can go any which way, either as a news only update type thread or one with more discussion and observations. Hopefully people would be able to watch some games/videos to see what they're all about.
What does everyone think? Possible success? Doomed for failure from the start?
I have dibs on Warsofsky.

Second choice (in case he's unselected) is Maxime Sauve.
BTW, love the thought - great work TFP, it's one of your best ideas.
However it is still doomed for failure from the start.

It's up to you. Do with it what you will, could be tracking them all season, could be watching their games and giving scouting reports, starting any sort of discussion, whatever. Your thread will be your blank canvas. So what exactly would we need to do here? Just give periodic update on these fine young lads?

I'll take Ryan Spooner, unless there are any other Hockey East guys besides Warsofsky I'm not thinking of.
EDIT: Or not. Thanks cshea. Craig Cunningham.
Thanks, I'll take Tommy Cross. Cunningham is back out there.
I'm an idiot, FL4WL3SS had told me he wanted Cross from the start and I missed it. Would you mind taking Cunningham back, kind sir? Thanks.

Will we get a subforum or just post on the main RMPS board? It's up to you. Do with it what you will, could be tracking them all season, could be watching their games and giving scouting reports, starting any sort of discussion, whatever. Your thread will be your blank canvas.

No problem, it was gonna be weird rooting for a BC douchemonster anyways.
Love ya, Kenney.

Who says you can make the rules. If your guy makes it to the NHL, you can choose to stick with him or select another guy to adopt.
And yeah, at this point I wouldn't even consider Seguin a prospect unless he doesn't make the team out of camp.
I don't think there'll be enough traction a subforum. If we start it and it's popular enough, we can move them after. For now, I'd say just start your thread on the main board. Will we get a subforum or just post on the main RMPS board?
Much obliged. No problem, it was gonna be weird rooting for a BC douchemonster anyways.
Love ya, Kenney.

Also, everyone doesn't feel like they have to do one. I rather there'd be fewer prospects with more people contributing to those than a ton of threads with scant replies. Helping out on a bunch of prospects that are already taken is more than acceptable. I just thought this would be a good idea to keep everyone interested in most of the prospects.
It would definitely be better if people focus on the guys who really have a shot of making the B's. The Sox AAP forum being so extensive is neat but at the same time, there are a lot of hands on deck there so it's a bit easier. Plus, it would be a shame to lose someone's insight because the guy they wanted was taken - we've got too many hockey-smart posters here to let that happen.

edit: I guess I may just contribute to threads that are already up then becuase I am not sure Bartkowski has a tremendous chance of ever making the Bruins.
I really don't see a problem with being exhaustive. It's hard to tell who will make it and who won't, we have a pretty good idea, but there's always a chance that another Versteeg develops. I don't think we should rule anyone out at this point, honestly. It's not like they have the depth of prospects that a baseball team does.It would definitely be better if people focus on the guys who really have a shot of making the B's. The Sox AAP forum being so extensive is neat but at the same time, there are a lot of hands on deck there so it's a bit easier. So you're saying we have... carte blanche? It's up to you. Do with it what you will, could be tracking them all season, could be watching their games and giving scouting reports, starting any sort of discussion, whatever. Your thread will be your blank canvas.
I;m way to busy pretending to be a rock star to go to many games, or, frankly, to watch that many. I will not adopt my own, but will try to add what I can.
Which will be nothing.

As for a subforum, I'd highly recommend setting one up. I don't think "traction" or traffic has anything to do with it. It would more or less be a filing cabinet for those threads, making them easy to find and peruse. So if someone wanted to get caught up and skim the latest in each of the prospect threads, they wouldn't have to manually search for each one. So unless it's a drain on system resources or server response, I don't see the harm.
