I'm amazed no one's taken a swing at Howard Webb yet.

That was awesome, the ball is in play and the guy is hustling to scream at the ref.

Because he didn't dive?

He was fouled. Puyol would likely have been red carded as he was the last man.

Don't think he had a chance to shoot there. He was held back.

Cesc is in.

I agree, but he shouldn't have to dive down to get that call.

And the foul was negated by Netherlands maintaining advantage. Robben goes down, Puyol is out...he maintained advantage, so it's his own fucking fault. That was called properly.

It's in the Chelsea coaching manual.

Agreed.
Looking at the replay, it's a minor miracle Puyol didn't take Robben with him when he went down.

He never touched the ball again after he was held. He tried to maintain advantage, but failed, so the call should have been given imo.

Perhaps. Robben looks like he's about to keel over.
#176

Yes he did. Pujol had his arm around his waist and fell, Robben maintained possession with his left foot, dribbled forward with his right. He hit the ball too far and Casillas collected it.
Robben choked it away either by trying to play through, or striking the ball too softly to maintain possession. The call, by rule, wasn't given because the Dutch held the advantage. There is a lot to get on Webb for in this match...mostly by spending the first part of the second half blowing his whistle just cuz...but that wasn't one of them.

Agreed, except for the "it's hot" part. It isn't hot at all.

plenty of energy to chase down the ref to scream, though...

Soccer is obviously not your sport. I would stop following if I hated it as much as you've shown over the last month.

Right, because those weren't acting jobs begging for a call... Can't hate on those.
And thanks for consulting the tea leaves to divine my fandom. Helpful, really.

From a US-centric point of view you might be right, but this match has something in spades at the moment that you want in a final: tension and drama.

It has some tension because it's overtime in a zero/zero game, but it hasn't been the best game to watch. That said, this overtime has been very exciting, at least both teams are trying to score and not relying on PK's. Unfortunately, nobody can seem to put the ball in the net.

Him and Arjen need to have concurrent surgery, where they switch their off legs with each other.
