I'm pretty sure that's the reasoning. Plus it gives him an extra day to rest from flying back and forth from LA and dealing with all the All Star stuff.

Minor League Gameday is really worth checking out just for the goofy player photos. They look like they were taken in a photo booth at Walmart

And as several people have pointed out already, that's really not the case. The fact that they're still in the thick of things is incredible given the injuries, and has to give one a little bit of confidence in the team's chances if they can get some of the key pieces back from the DL before falling too far out of competition.

There are a couple of players whose acts have gotten old. They could be gone.
