Yep.

Designed to give max rest to all pitchers according to Tito.
Why would he push Lester behind Lackey? I wonder if he's assuming he'll pitch an inning in the ASG.

I'm pretty sure that's the reasoning. Plus it gives him an extra day to rest from flying back and forth from LA and dealing with all the All Star stuff.
#54

Yep.
That must be in, what, 20 starts?

Girardi isn't going to play any of the Red Sox players in the All-Star Game. Haven't you heard?

Great writer to follow.

Quite the contrary, he's going to try to get at least 3 innings out of Lester.

What does that mean? How are we not competing with them?
#66
Posted 11 July 2010 - 12:54 PM
I'm officially against Lester participating in the home run derby, although I think he might have a shot.
#67
Posted 11 July 2010 - 12:54 PM
Oh really? I hadn't noticed.
#68
Posted 11 July 2010 - 12:54 PM
I think what he means is that the Sox are not competing with them very well.
#69
Posted 11 July 2010 - 12:55 PM
They are 5 games out with 80 or so to play, 3 games back in the WC. How are they not competitive?
#70

Apparently you didn't, if you think the pen needs to get rest before Thursday

Eh, the Rays get no hit all the time, by all types, doesn't seem to bother them.

Injuries are part of the game. Stop making excuses. Look how banged up NY is, missing Nick Johnson. They're practically on life support.
#81
Posted 11 July 2010 - 12:59 PM
So, they're on a pace to finish 10 games back with the entire team on the DL
#82

I don't care about being no hit.
It's the ginger part that bothers me. I would prefer to be no hit by an actual human being.

I think what he means is this is a bridge year until NY signs Crawford, Lee and Werth and starts their next dynasty.

What older players are they going to ditch next year? Lowell? That's pretty much it.

There are a couple of players whose acts have gotten old. They could be gone.
