Two great strikes. Forlan got a bit lucky - the keeper had taken a half step to his right just when he struck.

I find myself won by the plucky uruguyans. The Dutch are playing like they re hypnotized and I am sick and tired of their crappy displays they ve put.

So what are the experts' predictions here? Does Uruguay have a chance to pull this out? No doubt many people thought after the first 30 mins that they looked a bit overmatched vs the Dutch defense.

Uruguyan, not Uruguyans. Aside from Mr. Handball, we'd struggle to remember the mention of a single other player on that team during this tournament.

I wouldn't bet against the Dutch winning this comfortably in the second half, though.

Great strike but the keeper needs to stop that. Soft goal.

Seriously, that was terrible. I thought I was watching an Arsenal match for a second. WOOF.

If I didn't know most of the dutch, I would have trouble mentioning most of them as well.

And if you go just by the action on the field, Uruguay, being a severe underdog on paper, is looking the dutch on the eye if not playing better.

PS. Is it my idea or Caceres is playing better than Fucile?

Caceres is fearless, while Fucile played on his heels more.

Uruguay is taking it to Holland.

You can really feel the cracks forming and it feels like it's a matter of time before Uruguay scores. This is how it felt in the Confed Cup when Brazil came back against America. Even before Brazil scored the 2nd goal, you could feel it turning.

Edit - wow, blown opportunity for Holland.

Without seeing the replay, that may be a bad call. I think Van Persie blocked the keeper's view.

With seeing the replay, I think that *is* a bad call.

If any part of the body is offside, you are offside, correct? If that is the case, RVP was offside and ABSOLUTELY was involved in the play.

He wasnt blocking the view of the keeper but he did attempt at the ball from what appeared to be an offside position

IF you re in doubt, you favor the offense. There are million other calls that can be wrong.

Tsk tsk tsk. Against the flow of the game, the dutch with two goals.

The ball ricocheted off the defender, which removes any issue for offside.

Really? So say a player is in an offside position, and someone goes to cross to him. If that cross gets deflected but still goes to the player, he isn't offside because an opponent touched it?

I'm honestly asking.

Games over now anyway, Robben decided that.

FIFA rules state that the defender must make a deliberate play on the ball in order for the offside to be ruled a non-issue. Ricochet might be a deliberate attempt on the ball but doesnt appear to be a deliberate play.
