Basically...no. You have to see it to believe it.

Quick summary: Pique holds Cardoza in the box, penalty...Casillas saves.
On the counter off the penalty, David Villa's held in the box, penalty...Alonso scored, but it's called back because someone was in the box as Xabi hit it.
Villar saves Xabi's second kick, rebound ends up in about 15 sets of feet, Cesc gets tackled in the box, no call.

Is it the ball?

Is it the ball?
I've read on many places (this probably being one of them) that the players in the early matches were hitting everything long, and now are likely trying to compensate for the ball and the elevation (in some places).

Is it the ball?
I doubt it because the major complaint about the ball is that it flies uncontrolably. On corners, the problem would be the ball sailing wide, not landing limply in the box.

Let's recap. Paraguay gets a PK, Cardozo stopped by Casillas. Spain immediately gets a PK of their own, taken by Xabi Alonso, who scored, but it's disallowed for encroachment. On the retake, Villar makes the save. All to say, ZERO-FRIGGING-ZERO.

I think players are trying to compensate for the ball's desire to sail when they put corners on the usual trajectories.
edit: ah, beaten by Catcher Block.
