With some luck, we could have an All-Guay final though.

I mean, there has to be Spanish women who are as attractive and that don't look like Fernando Torres, right?

Paraguay made 6! changes!?
Yup. None of their strikers have scored a goal yet so two of them have been benched.
I don't expect to see much ambition from Paraguay, to be honest. Any early Spanish goal is absolutely vital if we want to see a decent game.

Old friend Sach suggests that not playing Cesc is a ploy to keep his transfer price down for Barca
#21
Posted 03 July 2010 - 02:18 PM
I would hope Cesc is sitting on the bench and understanding that this is his future.
They want him because the twats think they have a right to all half-decent Catalan players, not because they'd actually play him.
#22

Spain would be up 43-0 right now if he played, so that's a fair conspiracy theory. del Bosque is a Real Madrid man though...he would want Cesc to cost Barca so many Euro that the Catalan economy collapses, presumably.

Spain's problem isn't yet another creative midfielder. They need a left winger and Torres or another striker to play up to par.
#24
Posted 03 July 2010 - 02:20 PM
43? You underrate him.
443-0 maybe.
And then Cesc would gangbang that Paraguayan model...all by himself.

Well they need someone who isn't a 5'6" pussy to actually shoot the ball every now and then and make supporting runs instead of starting a circle jerk outside the box.

Ironic that there was some calls for an Arsenal man in this game, no?
Spain need a left winger that can actually move, which isn't Xabi Alosno right now. Fuck it, I'd try something odd like playing Javi Martinez right now just to combat the redundancy that runs all the way down Spain's lineup.

Stick Iniesta out there, take off Alonso for God (or Navas), put Llorente on for Torres.

This would be ideal, but keeping Iniesta on and bringing on Cesc doesn't fix the whole Smurf Circle Jerk problem, though Paraguay would likely not see the ball again.
Torres should not be on the pitch right now, I'm wincing watching him move...Llorente should have started.

Yes, and puts the average height of a Spainish midfielder at 4'2". Just because the Smurfs could get the best of Gargamel doesn't mean that the Spainish should implement it as a midfield strategy to unlock the Paraguayan defense.

Torres should not be on the pitch right now, I'm wincing watching him move...Llorente should have started I think.
Torres has never been the player who plays well hurt, and he's on one knee and can't really move. He got burned by the Paraguayan CB on a through ball that he probably wins if he's fit.
Arguably the biggest thing God brings to this team is the ability to shoot from outside the box. Alonso can do it but he's just not getting far enough up the pitch.
Navas doesn't do it either, but at least him crossing from deep stretches out the Paraguayans. We just had Capdevila overlap on the left.. I wonder if we see more of this in the second half.

The question is: when will the Paraguayans run out of gas? If they can outrun the SPANIARDS for two hours, they can win this. Maybe they can win without having to go that long.

Would Cesc shoot though? The last few games, the whole Spanish offense seems to be 34 passes around the box trying to funnel to David Villa being awesome or Fernando Torres to shoot the ball 5' wide of whatever woodwork he wasn't aiming at. Cesc would be good if only because Xabi and Torres can't effectively move around right now and they are inaccurate with their passing.
As I type this...Cesc for Torres. del Bosque still needs to open this game up but first he will blow me.
*Hyperbole, obviously. Mike Lowell is actually calcified right now.
