Schweinsteiger was exceptional, imo. He controlled the pace of the game, he sprayed passes left and right, he shifted the ball with perfect timing and his feint to create space for the third goal was absolute quality.
The Germans were so awesome today. I hope they beat Spain.

If Spain can get by Paraguay, I would favour Spain to beat Germany.
spain is just a 5 letter word, and müller will be spelt "marko marin".
it´s the final "The Netherlands vs Germany" which is depriving me of my sleep.
i don´t need that shit.

and just for the fuck of it, here´s horst hrubesch:

his 41 goals for rot-weiß-essen in a single season in our 2nd league are still nonpareil.
couple of years later he did play for hsv hamburg, and in ´82 with our nationalmannschaft he was involved in that legendary shoot-out vs france.
....
i always thought he was a dumb fuck, horst hrubesch. "wir lassen das spiel jetzt erst mal noch paroli laufen".
but it´s me, i´m the dumb&arrogant fuck.
it´s horst hrubesch who, as the under-21-national-manager, gave my country and me folks like özil and neuer and boateng.
---
this is the 10th world cup of my life. i did love each an every squad that ever did play for us. i did love the ´82 and ´86 stalingrad-teams, the förster bros, the dremmlers, the jakobs, the epitome of german football.
those were good guys, and they fought their battles well. and ugly. towards the runners-up-dom.
today this is a team, which i love unconditionally. i no longer have to hide behind "german efficency" and shit. it is my team, and i´m proud of the brand of football we´re playing.
argentina-game-wise i´m still speechless.
it will always be complicated, being proud to be german. to me, germany is goethe and özil and paulaner hefeweizen. i am proud today, whatever.

Personally, I find it hilarious that last week Maradona was loudly proclaiming his heterosexuality, and now he's been pounded by die Mannschaft.

How long were you waiting to make a Mannschaft joke, DLew? A few weeks?

To be fair, I never claimed to have a maturity level above 15 years old.

The Guardian podcast team liked that line so much they read it on today's podcast after I cross-posted it. Barry Glendenning snorted. So there.
