OK we're back on our main server.  It was taking a super long time to move *everything* back just to save a day's worth of messages.  I've been at this all day now and need to get back to my real job so.,... sorry.  Working on a better plan in case this happens again.  nip

Howard Webb will play 12 minutes of stoppage time to spite the Slovakians.

When do the yellows start flying?

Well, that one dude (the one that got up almost right away) was drilled in the face. The other guys are just unseemly.

Really, "Italian" "football" and "humiliation" are three words that go great together.

And there it is. The two finalists from the 2006 World Cup didn't make it out of the group stage. I think that deserves a, "Ha Ha!"

I believe since he's already played for the Italian National Team, he is not eligible to play for the USMNT down the line.

So the Netherlands-Cameroon game is essentially meaningless, right? Ife Denmark and Japan draw, Japan goes through on goal differential. So Denmark needs a win to advance.

It could affect seeding if things got out of control on the GD front. But yeah, Netherlands are through and Cameroon are out.

Right. Currently Netherlands are +3, Japan even, and Denmark -1, so if Japan wins by 2 and Netherlands lose, it could affect seeding.

Is the Danish keeper just not very good? His instincts certainly failed him on the first goal. The second free kick was placed perfectly, but it wasn't hit all that hard and the keeper was again out of position on the wrong side of goal.

Thomas Sørensen (the Danish keeper) used to be great....but I will agree that he lost a step (or three)....he was to blame for the first goal, reading it wrongly...and in the second one, he was in position, but he placed the wall about 2 feet to far towards the center....imho

While we are holding our breath for all the Danish goals to come, an unrelated tangent:

Yesterday in the news, they reported a drive-by shooting in Copenhagen.....three things:

- The culprits mistook the victims for gang bangers (Hells Angels hangarounds), apparently due to their "bulk and tattoos"....they were not
- Several shots were fired, none hit the victims
- The shooter were....wait for it.....on bikes!...yep, bicycles!

....only in Copenhagen....

I am SHOCKED at the Japanese side - Okada was 1mm close to being fired before the cup, and rumors of fired DURING the cup if they showed poor form. Just amazing.
