I know it sucks, but they really need to STFU with this. They're acting as if they're the first country to be screwed by refereeing errors in international football.

Can you name another team that has two goals disallowed in this world cup on shit calls?

A dodgy opening 10 minutes but since then England have dominated. Should be 2 as chances missed by Gerrard, but good save from 'keeper.

To be fair they did just go over the 1982 Germany-Austria fix that knocked out Algeria. Well, Harkes didn't talk about it because he's probably never heard of it.

Not in this world cup in particular, but off the top of my head, in Euro 96, Spain had a goal disallowed on a bad offside decision and a legitimate penalty appeal denied (with a yellow card for diving to add insult to injury) in the same match. While justifiably unhappy after the game, I don't recall any talk of bias afterward - and they would have had a better apparent case for it, since the calls benefited England, the host nation.

In general, the frequency with which this sort of thing happens (and yes, this is a black mark against football in general in the age of replay and 24/7 sports discussion) means that it's not at all unlikely to be the victim twice within the space of three matches. It sucks, but introducing the idea of any kind of deliberate conspiracy is certainly not a good way to gain the respect of the world football community.

Does anyone know what percentage of shots within 20 yards actually score? I'll bet it's 10%. It's just fucking hard to capitalize on the opportunities.

for true goal scorers it's like 75% inside 12 yards (penalty mark)

edit: there aren't many of those

Except you were only able to come with example from 14 years ago that was over the course of four games. Nice job.

The refereeing has sucked. Horrendous shit. Doesn't mean they still shouldn't be ahead.

In conclusion, you suck.

Least I can recall seeing in football is about 15 seconds, before the days of the fourth official signaling how much time there would be. I've actually seen negative stoppage time in rugby, which was pretty stupid.

Halftime thoughts:

THE Call - Watchingon a computer, so take with a grain of salt, but that's a 50/50 call. Linesman probably should've kept the flag down, but that's the way it goes.

Altidore - Just quit. That was a disaster. Why are you trying to slam the ball home from 6 yards out? Assclown.

#6 - Don't know who it is, but the right fullback is playing a great game - getting involved in the attacks, showing creativity, and giving good services.

Don't know who played the through ball on the left side for a breakaway or who couldn't finish, but that had to be a goal.

Michael Bradley - Is very good. Controls the whole offense and defends well.

With the Redcoats up a goal, have to keep attacking, even if it's leading to opportunities for Argelia. At least the US looks dangerous on counterattacks.

Exciting game.
