7 PM
Royals (Bruce Chen 3-1, 4.15) @ Nationals (Livan Hernandez 5-4, 2.95)

10 PM
Reds (Mike Leake 5-1, 3.02) @ A's (Gio Gonzalez 6-5, 4.21)
Yankees (AJ Burnett 6-5, 4.33) @ Diamondbacks (Rodrigo Lopez 2-6, 4.70)

Berry's Pick Of The Day is in bold.

...Only 3 active pitchers have more wins than Livan Hernandez. If Livan can strike out 9 batters, he will pass Jason Schimdt for 91st All-Time. With this start, Livan breaks out of a tie for Games Started with Freddie Fiztsimmons and Hall Of Famer Waite Hoyt...The 1999 Atlanta Braves were the last Brave to make the World Series. The only active players from that team are: Chipper Jones, Andruw Jones, Mark DeRosa, Kevin Millwood and Bruce Chen...

Livan hasn't struck out nine batters in a game since May 11, 2004, incidentally.

And Livan's ERA remains stays down there with his performance tonight...

Aided by the Royals offensive ineptitude and a strike zone the KC announcers are derisively referring to as "Jerry's Lane".

No doubt the Royals offense is very pathetic. But they weren't helped much from the homeplate umpire tonight, in what I saw. I just watched the last couple of innings (and that was intermittent), but Robinson Tejada was working in a sweet two-seamer that was running back and grabbing the plate. In the eighth a few of them were shrugged off by the ump and then Capps comes in and basically is throwing the same exact pitch and he strikes out the side (looking).

D-Backs had THREE homeruns in the first inning off AJ Burnett and scored 5. My favorite moment came when Upton hit a grounder past Jeter and of course we get the amazing "PAST A DIVING JETER" call. D-backs up 7-1 in the 5th.
