This is a I'm done moment for me potentially. I may stop supporting them until Ashley is gone. STRIKE STRIKE, send the students on him!

I will not stop supporting them, but it is indeed clear that Ashley needs to go (as if it wasn't abundantly clear already). Between the suspicious wager on Hughton's sacking and the hire of his gambling buddy Alan Pardew, it's obvious there's something rotten on Tyneside. Of course the rumor that the Qatar royal family is considering purchasing the club doesn't exactly blow my skirt up either.

At least it sounds like Andy Carroll wants to stay, though I'm sure they'll sell him off anyway.

How does anyone give Alan Pardew a five and a half year contract? He's a one year rolling contract at best. And Newcastle who have played managerial musical chairs for years now, get rid of the guy who stabalized the team, got them into the top flight, then get Pardew for five fuckin years. Ashley is playing Brewster's Millions for real...that is the only logic. Either that or he spoke to Zeus, consulted the Oracle, solved the riddle of the Sphynx and it is thus written that Pardew is actually half man half Cloughie and a new Trophy Cabinet has been duly ordered.

I've kept quiet for a few days because I don't know what to make of all this.

I still don't.

F'ing Newcastle.

That is pretty much where I am. I'm beyond furious at Ashley. I haven't used the phrase "fat toad" so frequently since the days of Hideki Irabu. I just have visions of a locker room near revolt, a horrible result this weekend and a slow march towards relegation.

Frankly, if it wasn't for the Pats win on Monday and the recent Sox acquisitions, I don't know what I would be doing.

Oh that's right. I'd be mailing bags of my own feces to Mike Ashley. Fat cockney bastard, indeed.

Now they're considering selling Joey Barton because there is a need to balance the books. They do not appear to be considering the potential unbalancing effect of relegation.

Yeah, but he's our tool.

Actually, Krul has played fairly well since Harper went down.

Sol Campbell looks like a corpse. Why Kadar didn't get the start is beyond me.

It's going to be very nice to get Williamson and Colo back next game.

And the schizophrenia continues. Back to back losses, but against Citeh and Spurs, so expected.

News tonight that Ben Arfa will be inked to a permanent deal. And rumors of signing Max Gradel from Leeds are rampant as well.

Andy Carroll's got a thigh injury and will miss Wigan for sure, and most likely West Ham and the FA Cup match against Stevenage.

Can't wait to watch Shola up top in a 4-5-1. Argh.

- Shola's shocking miss in the 1st minute
- Colo hits bar
- Loven with a good chance, shot blocked
- Loven in an acre of space, Shola can't release him
- Jonas in alone on goal, can't lift the ball
- Taylor hits bar

Am I missing anything? Very frustrating.

Leon Best has entered the game. Either Pardoo is taking the piss or I may be having a stroke. Not sure.

Loven also had another one where he took three touches all alone from about 5 yards out but couldn't manage to get a shot off.

Still, road wins without Carroll are rare and precious things to be savored. Wasn't great watching, but looks good in the points column.

Things to do in January (if I were in charge)

1) sign Ben Arfa permanently
2) offload 60k p/w Alan Smith
3) offload Leon Best (and Xisco, if he's still around)
4) not lose

1 -- Barfa's been signed. And Spurs have been told to bugger off re: Andy Carroll.
2 -- Fat Sam is not currently managing anywhere, so this does not seem doable to me.

A win tonight and we'll be oh so close to surviving. I think Wolves will be in the deep end by the time March comes around, and Wigan looked like dogshit against us so I think they'll go down as well. One more team to go.. WB have lost 5 in a row and can't defend set-pieces, Wolves can't find any consistency, same with Brum, and WH are still in shit, especially if they have a farcical window.

Ecstatic that HBA has signed permanently. He's probably the best player we've had at the club for a good 4-5 years.

I'm over the moon at Ben Arfa, but Andy Carroll might have something to say about 'best player'.

Of course, it's really only been in the last 12-18 months or so that Carroll has come in to his own.

The more I think about that bet, the worse it sounds. At those odds, you're saying that he would score a hat trick roughly every two seasons (assuming ~40 games per season including league and cups) if he was a full-time starter. I'd have taken an even money bet against that in a second.

An utterly disgraceful performance today, particularly by the midfield. If Alan Smith ever takes to the pitch for Newcastle again, it will be much too soon. It seemed as if he was actively avoiding the ball the entire time he was out there and I'm fairly sure he never so much as broke into a trot. Kevin Nolan mouthed off to the press that the FA Cup was the "easy" route to Europe and then proceeded to completely shit the bed. Perhaps he got a concussion when he took that ball to the head early in the match. I don't know.

Why on earth did Pardew put Tiote out there already down 2-0? He was \carrying a hamstring injury from midweek as it was, and this match was clearly a lost cause by the time he was substituted in. Pardew may as well have taken Smith off and not replaced him, particularly since they ended up playing with 10 men anyway. Finally, if Perch is our second choice at left back we are in trouble. He's out of his element as it is and not even left-footed. I don't get how we're being linked with all these left side midfielders when left back and right wing are clearly the biggest needs for this squad.

I understand Leeds are interested in Alan Smith - they can have him...even if we have to pay his full wage. On the bright side, now the full focus can be on Premier League survival.

So close, and so frustrating. Still, without Carroll and Tiote, I'd have taken the draw going in.

My Twitter timeline is full of tweets describing a near riot at the Stadium of Light right now. Also rumors a Sunderland fan took to the pitch after the match and slugged Harper. Classy.

Whatever, it's ubiquitous. Besides, the Coloccini version is the highest rated on Terrace Chants so clearly we win!

On a separate note, can we change the thread title? I love Chris Hughton, too, but it's getting me down every time I see it and I want to feel good about this season. Now, no more stoppage time equalizers, please
