The Boston Celtics are 2-0 in the NBA Finals when I'm in attendance.

After Thursday, it will be 3-0.

Skrub will lead the way.

Cavs also thought they had things in control after game 3. Bryant's possum face will have a whole different meaning come Friday morning.

Good point. The Cavs blew the C's off the court that Friday night and everyone buried them for the year. We all know how that series turned out. They are going to win on Thursday night and set up an epic game 5.

I just saw on ESPNBoston that Bynum threw out his knee again last night in the third and never returned. If I'm the Zenmaster, I'd worry that Bynum cannot go/be effective/play his normal minutes, especially with one day off between games. If Odom is getting big minutes against this team's starting five, Perkins will switch over to Gasol and Odom will get terrorized by a hopefully resurgent KG. Not only that, but Big Baby will all of a sudden become a HUGE matchup problem. We're winning this series.

It starts tomorrow. WIN

Except that Bynum did return. He played 4 minutes in the 4th quarter.

That knee did look pretty bad when Bynum went out of the game, though.

Yeah, you're right. My mistake. I was actually at the game too. Whoops.

Looks like Bynum got torched pretty bad while he was in in the 4th though. 2 boards, a missed layup and a foul in 4 minutes. His health is going to be a pretty huge factor in Game 4.

Bynum is questionable for Game 4. Would be huge if he was unavailable. Back to Perk/Sheed vs. Gasol and KG versus Odom.

I doubt there is ANY combination of three NBA officials that wouldn't rightfully garner guffaws around here.

And what a sad commentary on the NBA that is.

Equally sad is that the only thing I feel comfortable predicting about tonight's game is that the refs will suck and impact the game way more than they should.

According to the "Homer" list at covers.com. Rush is 7th out of 67 refs for being Pro-Homer.
However, Willard is 50/67 and Foster is 64/67!

Celtics record with each during playoffs

Foster 1-1 (Miami G5, Orlando G4)
Rush 1-2 (Cle G1, Cle G6, Orl G5)
Willard 2-1 (Miami G4, Cle G5, Orl G3)

Home: 3-1
Away: 1-3

Only home loss was a very winable OT Game 4 vs Orlando. Does not look like a bad crew in this small sample size.

I know we don't want to belabor this issue too much, but why the hell would Eddie F. Rush be allowed to officiate a C's game after what happened in Orlando? Awful job by Stern, Jackson, whoever...

I figured after the whole Perkins debacle that this was the last we'd seen of Rush in the playoffs. Foster is equally as terrible, but that just comes with the territory.

I'm with TheoShmeo, the refs the NBA has deemed as 'the best' are an entire collection of people who make my skin crawl. They're choosing from a small pool of the especially inept, which for some reason in the NBA translates to playoff assignments

Well like the issue with Kobe and the 5 fouls isn't it likely that Rush will not be calling many T's tonight (particularly on Perk) and that he would be generally pro-Celtic. It's always about counterbalancing and making up.

I have a question: why doesn't the NBA release the assigned officials for each game BEFORE the series? Keeping it secret until almost right before the game in question doesn't come across well.

Absolutely. It just opens the league up to conspiracy theories. As crazy as they may be. If they just released the assignments before the series, all that talk is scuttled.

This could be a good thread topic.

Personally, I think the league is giving everyone a big 'F U' to the fans and media. Stern and Co. are determined to do things the way they want, regardless of how it comes across.

The NBA is tone deaf.

I believe the NBA's stated reason is to not allow gamblers to influence the refs by not knowing who they are far enough in advance. Of course, this reasoning is absurd for reasons that don't even merit explanation. I am in full agreement that the league would be substantially better off if they made it clear how they determine playoff assignments and announced them earlier.
