I don't know. Maybe one of the dopes fat-fingered something?
Edit: Who had a better tournament, Forlan or the octopus?

The octopus's life has been spared (via JoeMyGod):

After he accurately predicted the winner in six straight matches, Spain's Minister of Fisheries says he will ask the German government to ensure that Paul The Octopus is never eaten and will be allowed to die naturally of boredom during the next World Cup.

Casiilas won the Golden Glove. I think I would have awarded him the Silver Ball behind Forlan.

Totally random thought -
I'm all for more soccer, so what do people think of a game the day before the third-place game between the host nation and a nation from their continent (as long as neither advanced to the final or 3rd place game)? It would be kind of a final reward for the fans of the host country. (if the Host is in the final or 3rd place game, just pick two teams from their continent)
Call it "The Host Nation Match". I would have certainly watched a South Africa-Ghana matchup this passed Friday.

I would prefer the formation of another 4 groups in the round of 16. It would give an extra 2 games in order to win the tourney. More fair.
